Cypress hill is not classic stoner music....i mean people like different things but that is deffenatly not classic classic is shit like the beatles, rolling stones, the doors, and three dog night...there is no way u can take a new age band and call them a classic...
first of all, they are not newage, they have been together for 21 years. second of all, classic has nothing to do with age. it means exhibiting timeless quality. as far as stoner music goes cypress is classic... also, they have many songs specificly about weed unlike the bands you posted, which literally makes them stoner music.
i'm always listening to tom petty when i'm high. i went to one of his concerts last august.. i got soo stoned. i felt like i was in heaven! haha
The song "One is the lonliest number" is about getting high alone and half the beatles songs are related to tripping and getting baked...i honestly dont see how sypress hill has that sound of stoner music...but as i stated PEOPLE HAVE THERE OWN OPINIONS witch is what i thought this site was about...i dont see the harm of having a nice argument over this but people like 40z and cronic need to be the ones to stfu unless they have a point
i've been listening to the tragically hip alot lately, i mean. i got stoned today and listened to them
"Stoner music" is all music seeing as stoners arn't just hippies or *AHEM* more like 14 year olds that buy 30 dollar Pink Floyd t-shirts at Hot Topic, say "peace" and "yah, man" and feel like they've TOTALLYYY been born in the wrong time. All people; doctors, teachers, garbage men, crossing guards, your mother even, smoke marijuana. This makes it impossible and ignorant to say that any one kind of music or band is NOT stoner music.
I gotta say most beatles songs actually aren't about drugs. And aside from what I can say that someone else has probably already said, the soundtrack to Titanic is awesome when stoned.
matisyahu, troublesome creek, cypress hill, immortal technique, old crow medicine show, 311, three six mafia.. DICK SUCKIN HOES, BLOOD SUCKIN HOES, HOES, HOES AINT NUTTIN BUT HOES.. PUSSY EATIN NIGGAS BROKE ASS NIGGAS, NIGGAS NIGGAS AINT NUTTIN BUT NIGGAS. gotta love it. hippies arent just from the 60s, and they arent just 14 year olds who spend way too much money on clothes at corporte owned cesspools. Everyone has a little hippie in them..and in that way, the hippies have won. cypress hill is definitely STONER MUSIC..they were even called "hip hop hippies" by ice cube. I also have to add... if youre bored.. http://www.troublesomecreekstringband.com/audio/gypsydavy.mp3
"A hippie or hippy is a member of a specific subgroup of the counterculture that began in the United States during the early 1960s, spread to other countries, and declined in the mid-1970". This new wave of "hippies" is not the same as those from the sixties. It's cliche, it's phony, it's a direct product of the media and warped cultural trends. People now are indifferent and have no drive to make cultural changes. They'd rather just tag the label "hippie" onto their name in order to appear cooler. "The hippies" most definately haven't won, look at the world we live in. And OF COURSE there are exceptions to this, I'm just speaking about the majority I've seen. But back on topic, I'm reallly into Sufjan Stevens right now.
