Just watched an amazing documentary about the free speech protests at berkeley and the whole anti-war movement. It covered pretty much most of what went on with the revolution, heres a link to the torrent http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/68702801/berkeley+in+the+sixties?tab=summary its also on youtube aswell but i recommend the torrent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aVM44PMT8M"]YouTube- berkeley in the sixties
That was a good one. I walk past peoples park on a regular basis. Another couple to check out are "The Weather Underground," which was obviously about the Weather Men, and "The Chicago Ten," which was about the Riots at the Democratic National convention in '68 and the trial that followed. Also I would recommend the movie "Medium Cool" with Robert Forrester. They were actually shooting during the riots in Chicago. The films director was almost brought up on charges of inciting the riot. Welcome to alternate US History 101. Peace Out, Rev J
Yes it has. there is a stage in there. There are monumental murals on the outside of the restrooms and on the wall of the record store that is right next to it. I've heard though that you have to watch your step to avoid stepping on needles but the dude who told me that is a little paranoid. Telegraph Ave. still has alot of political street vendors and window displays about the Black Panthers and the history of Bay Area Punk and Ska which was in alot of ways an extention of the political statement. I just feel the need to share this there is a bay area Oi band called Jewdriver their schtick is they do Screwdriver songs with the lyrics change so they are pro semitic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qhkEb3Rvyk"]YouTube - Jewdriver - Hail the jew dawn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFZE111Hpoo"]YouTube - Jewdriver - "Manischewitz" Live at the El Rio 8-27-2003 I allways said that punks were just hippies with attitude problems. But there is some great shit coming out of the area. Peace Out, Rev J
