Ok, I was wondering, and I know this is old news, but I just read about this today. Apparently, in his home, in London England, bones were found in his basement burried. bones of 10 people and 6 of them children, all dating back to Ben franklins time and while he lived there. 1st. Is the dating of these bones accurate? 2nd. Is this public knowledge in the USA or was it blocked from media? 3rd. What do you think of Ben Franklin? simply found it interesting that I had not heard about this, wonder if this was kept out of USA media. The bones are on display in the house he once lived, which was restored.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, 15 bodies were found buried in a windowless room beneath the garden of the house Franklin lived in at 36 Craven St., London. Six were children. Franklin's protege, William Hewson, ran an anatomy school there. Study of human anatomy was frowned on in those days so Hewson had to rely on a supply of smuggled bodies that he bought from graverobbers. So that is probably the source of the bones that were discovered. Why Was Benjamin Franklin’s Basement Filled With Skeletons? | Smart News | Smithsonian Magazine
I heard about this waaay back here in the USA. What I heard was the same story, that he was studying anatomy. But really, no one knows. For all anyone really knows, he was a prolific serial killer.
yes, maybe, after all he did fly a kite with a key on it and survived. That could be viewed as a sign of insanity. Fine line between insanity and genius. grave robbing, It must have been gruesome to see this. I can imagine people mad enough to murder in the name of science too, after all he was willing to possibly die for it with the lightning rods.
I have been reading that grim subject a lot and I have never heard of him. I thought this thread was about an early president.
I t is about an early president. He was an ambassador of sorts for the USA, in the uk for 15 years prior to becoming president of the USA.
He must have had a wonderful mind. I'm taking his wiki in for questioning but I believe he was an honest man.
funny too, to see his home you have to go to London, england, Where he lived in the USA no longer exists I believe.
Franklin was never president. He was, however, the first US Postmaster General. Other offices he held were ambassador to France and president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania.
No historical evidence has been produced to indicate Benjamin Franklin had a venereal disease, such as syphilis.
Exactly he did not exhibit any symptoms of syphilis, and lived to become an old man. His mind was sharp to the end.
lol. Funny,I always think of him that way, because he is looked at as the most important one of the founding fathers. An integral part.
