the internet is permanent i think technology has contributed to good and evil, but i can't ignore the way technology lets people from across the world communicate, people can read and learn anything anywhere....
In the last 10 years or so TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN USED TO TRAP PEOPLE,ENSLAVE THEM for the govt!!!! (Thier every move being spied on)
Lots of technology that's out there is scary and has gone too far. The internet, or what it could be, is pretty much humanity's last hope, in particular when you consider the impact cryptocurrencies will have on the corrupt banking system if they are allowed to flourish. If was more of a tech guru, I'd be working on a free, open source, non corporate, decentralized internet as my number one priority. The internet we have today is so far from permanent! The one we're on could disappear at any second and back to the dark ages we would go. Computers make my head hurt worse though so instead of working on that, I'm working on establishing some places of refuge for the future generations of inventors and artists, and ways to thrive if/when the system does collapse.
A link to a more than relevant post on a different forum - would've copied and pasted, but it's a bit lengthy http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/backstage/309273-cautionary-fable.html
That's awesome! As I was reading, I looked at my flip phone, that I only use to text, and thought, "That's as much phone as I'll ever want."
where any technology goes, is determined largely by the motivations for how it is used. which makes technology itself, not quite as good of a scapegoat as some people would like it to be. the more power it gives us, the less sloppiness of thinking, we remain able to get away with. that part is scary in the one sense of how intellectually disciplined can any of us be. but at the same time, our world, our experience of living in it, has always been shaped by the priorities of our culture. technology doesn't change that, it remains merely an instrument of the same process. it gives the process a pretty face with blinking lights and all that, and in some ways it makes that process easier to see, and harder to deny. i think that always scars people who depend on being able to hide what and how they are able to manipulate.
