Not really a question here, but of a discussion. In general, society puts labels on people and I for one don’t like labels. My wife and I are open minded and have a “ To each there own” view of people. We have the attitude of if that make you happy and you don’t push your political, social, sexual or religious beliefs on us we will be friends. My wife and I are home nudist because our neighbors and friends would quickly ostracize us. This is a fact that I would think affects many people who love the clothes free lifestyle. Why are we treated this way, when being Bi, Gay, LBGT, Democrat,Republican, Baptist, Catholic and so on are so accepted today’s cultural. But Nudity..... What say you?
I doubt if anyone would object to being friends with you, as long as you keep your clothes on. If I had friends who with extreme religious or political opinions, we might not stay friends if they kept expressing them in front of me! So in that sense, it's pretty much the same.
Even if we bring up nudity around our friends it is frowned upon. They don’t want to have anything to do with nudity and make jokes about it. We accept who they are as people. Double standard I say.
My wife and I are nudists. We belong to a local nudist resort and go to nude beaches. We don't go around telling others but if we are confronted and asked we don't deny it. We have indeed lost what we always thought were close friends. Nudity will also bare you the truth of circumstances. We actually have a lesbian couple living in our community that frowns us because of our nudist beliefs. The problem lies with people being trapped into social stigma of today's world. I've actually had friends of our son question me on denounce us on account of our ways. These same people ( both male and female) go out looking every weekend for sex. One of them is actually cheating on her husband and is our biggest critic. Strange world isn't it?!
Dare, I agree with your assessment. Thanks for the insight. That’s one reason we have recently joined AANR and plan to go to our first nudist resort in the fall. We want a new set of like minded friends just to socialize with. The small resort we chose is age appropriate. We are 65/61. By the way, It’s a nude day here on our compound.
Nudist or naturist is a label. If all you ever do is swim or have a sauna without clothes, you're not a person who fits that description. You just find it more comfortable.
