Is being ill a complete waste of time, or is it time to take stock of your life so far and make some reconsideration?
i discovered DMX when sick.. made me feel better, however Im against using it recreational. if youre sick. it kicks ass.
Even though I disagree with what most doctors have to say especially with nutrition, every doctor I have asked agrees with me that when it comes to chronic illness there is more to the illness than purely biological issues, like in the TV series from 25 years ago The Singing Detective. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090521/
being ill is nature's way of telling us we're not the center of the universe. it also reminds us that suffering is a thing that exists, and that we don't generally need to add to it. it is also a way of reminding us to not take for granted those times when we are well, and to not waste them by ignoring the beauty we find when we do. i don't believe everyone needs suffering to remind them that beauty and happiness can also exist. but some people sometimes probably do. i mean those who forget ever to notice.
So what's the advice? What's the philosophical advice? If suffering exists is that a focal being in participation with the rest of humanity? I just don't think that suffering is to result in being ostracized from other people. We should in that way be able to judge if we are good or bad suffering. I consider this a christian discussion.
Can a dog exist without fleas? Can air exist without breath? Although....if one must be in the mindset of illness why not make the most of the time that is spent on those paths, man.
Being ill can either make or break you. You may not be able to change the illness but you can change your perception of it and yourself. We can be very resilient when faced with illness and it may be part of your life but it does not have to become your life.
(I was just thinking about this yesterday.) Every time I get ill to a certain point of suffering I think that once I am well, everything will be great and I won't take not being physically well for granted. (This change of way of thinking doesn't usually last long, but comes and goes - for me.)
