Im sorry I just get really upset when people use god as a reason to try and tell other people what to do. If u wanna live a life of other peoples opinions and self loathing go right ahead but the truth is ur a layman and u like having sex with men nothing u can do is going to change that so why not accept ur life for what it is and be happy.
Any mere mortal tries to pretend the have any chance of understanding what God's plan is, they are kidding themselves. More than likely Jesus himself would have been gay There's nothing to say that some or most of the pastors you've talked to arent in the closet Not that any of it matters anyway, you dont get anywhere running around worrying about what everyone else thinks........they wont respect you if you are just one of the other sheep
I'm not down with religion hating on gays either but your comment about Jesus possibly being gay has me wondering how you arrived at that theory? Not hatin on the theory itself just wondering is all?
I was just making a joke that your arguement is not real solid, kinda like if it does not fit you must aquit.
Any """Christian""", IMO, who tells you being Gay is a sin, doesn't know jack about Christianity- Christians who get on their pedastools and judge everyone are the biggest insult to everything Christ taught us about humanity, whether you believe he was part divine or not- Christ embraced the concept of the "sinner" (because that is part of us being human), and Christ reinforce that we are not to not to be busy casting judgement, but understanding eachother, and because of free will, hopefully, when he stumbles, or makes mistakes (I prefer that language to the word "sin", since "sin" is such a harsh and guilt-riddled word), he uses his inner compass, his ethics and conscience (or takes responsibility if he has hurt another), and his Redemption is CELEBRATED- it't the exact ANTITHESIS of the militant, "break 'em down till their nothing and build 'em up" theory, or God's Fearful, Angry Lightningbolt Theory, or judemental, shame-based, guilt-riddled way of teaching Christianity or Morality.
You can be gay and believe whatever you want to believe. If you choose to be involved in a particular church and get caught up in the social aspect of Christianity, then you'll probably have to deal with people telling you its a disease or telling you its wrong and immoral. Fuck those people. They have hate and judgement in their heart, which is far less Christ-like than any other sin you can commit. You can be whatever you want if you choose to stay away from close-minded hypocrites that follow the same Book. Read the Bible yourself and draw your own conclusions.
I'm not homosexual, but last time I checked being gay doesn't automatically mean you're going to start engaging in same-sex activities, like anal sex. If anything, that's a really bad and close-minded assumption. A lot of gay people cannot help their sexuality. It's not their fault. So yes, you can be gay and a Christian. And remember, neither of us is better than the other. We're all sinners. But being attracted to other guys is not the sin. It's the sexual acts that are the sins, but the same is true for heterosexuals that don't marry.
Well, he was mid 30s, no wife, no girlfriend, living with his parents....at a time when everyone else was getting married at 12. An Easy temperament, sensitive eyes and a strong empathy towards women (Mary Magdelene). Then he spent a whole bunch of years camping with a dozen guys. Go by the bible and he was the son of God, born free of earthly desires...which would explain why he didnt have a wife or kids. It may even be possible that he never actually existed. But take anything to do with the name Jesus or religion, and it you were to describe a guy like that living today, a better than even chance you'd be talking about a gay guy. He may not have been, who knows. However, the main argument for the negative would be, not its not possible that he was gay, he's Jesus, he's our saviour, everyone says that the bible says gay is wrong, thus God says its wrong. God wouldnt make a gay guy our saviour - nothing about whether he actually was or wasnt, more about what people want to believe. Even though there's nothing to really exclude the possibilty
If anything Jesus is asexual. Although he did deal with temptations in his human form, but he never did them.
The rules against eating pork and shellfish don't apply to Christians. They are part of the law of Moses, applicable only to Jews. The rules against sex outside of marriage are applicable to Christians. They make a certain amount of sense in helping to control STDs and promoting family stability. As to what percentage of Christians violate them, it depends on your definition of Christian--but I'd guess plenty. The Old Testament condemns at least one form of homosexuality--males penetrating other males, and imposes the death penalty for it. Paul, in Romans 1, seems to extend reproach to lesbians, as well. My question is:Are these texts being taken out of historical and cultural context when they are used to condemn homosexuality today? First of all, there is nothing in the Bible that condemns homosexual orientation. Sophisticated theologians realize that having same sex thoughts or tendencies per se is not wrong, although it might be wrong to act on them or to give in to lustful thoughts and desires involving them (but who doesn't give in to lust from time to time? I don't think it would be possible to develop normal, healthy sexual attitudes without it). Second, homosexual relations in ancient times had a different significance than they do today. For a male to penetrate another male was to treat him as a woman or a slave. Culturally, women and slaves were considered to be inferior in status, and to treat a free man that way was considered to be degrading. Sex was a one-way proposition and an act of domination. Also, homosexual and heterosexual shrine and temple prostitution was prevalent in pagan worship, as a challenge to Yahweh worship. This was true when Leviticus was written, and also when Paul wrote Romans 1, the main subject of which is idolatry, with the main illustrations involving lust and licentiousness. Are lust and licentiousness problems for homosexuals and heterosexuals today? Absolutely! Does this mean that the Bible condemns loving homosexual relationships? I don't think so. And Romans 1 is followed by Romans 2, telling Christians not to judge.
Okay, I can see where you are coming from to a point. You could also argue that the guy was crazy and beleived he was the son of God and therefore hung out with people who beleived him which happened to be dudes. If your gonna tick off the local authorities you may want a posse around you. Maybe he kept mary around for the sex? He was killed in his 30's so maybe that's why he didn't have kids? He could have been anything and I see your point in that, but to say that he was more than likely gay...I just don't see anything to support that. I'm not tryin to be insulting and I hope I don't sound like a jerk, I just don't see it.
Of course, there's still another possibility. The "lost" Gnostic scriputures suggest that Mary Magdalene and Salome had a much more prominent role in Jesus' inner circle than the Christian canon suggests, and that Peter and the other males were jealous. There's that intriguing passage in the Gospel of Philip: That Jesus loved Mary Magdalene "more than all the disciples, and used to kiss her often on her (manuscript gap). The rest of the disciples... said to him "Why do you love her more than all of us?" The Savior answered and said to them, "Why do I not love you like her? When a blind man and one who sees are both together in darkness, they are no different from one another. When the light comes, then he who sees will see the light, and he who is blind will remain in darkness."
lol, it's so hard for me not to picture those who believe that being gay or actively being gay is against Christianity or against Christ's teachings, as sitting at their computer dressed in the same pilgrimish outfits worn by those burning innocent women during the Salem Witch Trials. These are the same sad souls recycled. Frankly I pity them. I hope they one day they gain a new perspective- it will take so much weight off of the shoulders of those they judge, and their own!
