Hi, new around here. I'm very happy to find a community that shares the joy of being barefoot.

Tbh, I used to hate it haha. But a few years ago during college there was this guy who ALWAYS wore flip flops, and his feet were tough and firm, pretty much like hands. We became friends and as time passed, he told me that he was a barefooter, but wore flips in many public places to avoid problems. I was so confused at the time.

One day I invited him to my home and I was wearing shoes inside and he told me that my feet were probably suffering so much, so he remove his flops at the entrance and told me I should be barefoot like him. I took my shoes off, but remained in socks. While were drinking coffee he was able to remove one of socks with my feet and he said that once I tried it I'll never go back to shoes. So I did, I remove my other sock and walked on the cold floor and felt AMAZING.

We went outside to concrete and grass and I was quickly realizing what I was missing. Then he said let's go to the mall in flops, but I didnt owned any, so I just put my shoes without socks and the first thing we did was a to get some flops for me, which I wore immediately, so refreshing, I was starting to hate those damn shoes.

I started to go to college in flops, we even took them off to sit on the grass. One day a friend passed by and I tried to tease us "haha two barefoot boys" and I said, well you might be the next one! I knew that comment was from a potentially shy person who wanted to be like us, so I ended up converting him as well :) that's a story for another post.

Wish I had a friend like that when I was young. Shoes can be useful and can offer protection, but they are not always needed. The culture has taken a useful tool and made it a cultural requirement. I love going barefoot and plan on doing it as much as possible.

I didn't go barefoot when I was in college, but I sure wish I had. I would have been a much more happy and contented person.
