The thought is that if reality is a simulation, we're making it very easy by confining to ourselves to predictable patterns. So the way to break our reality simulation is by throwing a bunch of randomness into your day. I tried to glitch the simulation and all I got was a bottle of pee While I think the odds of reality being a simulation are probably less than 5%, worst case you throw a bunch of novelty in your day.
I've got three bottles of pee sitting on my shelf. This randonaut thing sounds interesting. I don't get out much. I think I would if I had randomly generated places to go to. I hate routine.
Isn't one of the problems with Simulation Hypothesis is that it leads to an infinite regress? We could say part of the simulation may be that these randonauts think that they are breaking out of the simulation.
i was talking recently about the Animatrix shorts. one of those is about the concept of someone almost managing to break out of the matrix. i think something to do with running.
i don't know about breaking out of a simulation, but i think this sounds a good thing to do for other reasons. i think i will become a randonaut.
Without the ability to simulate conscious experience, it's pretty outlandish to suggest we are simulated. I wouldn't do this to break out of a simulation. I would just like random places suggested to me to go.
leave the cell phone at home, or better yet don't have one, don't buy anything on line, nor using credit, get on the first transit bus that comes by, (but know what people are like in what kind of neighborhoods it goes through, just in case) hop on a regional or intercity train or bus, if there are such things, and you have the means to spend the night wherever you end up when you're ready to get off and bed down. follow without being seen, anyone who seems to be following you. but don't do anything other then to make a mental note of where they go. then go home, or randomly move into a new one if you have the means of doing so. even if you find its all bullshit, you'll have had a neat fun adventure, and feel refreshed and inspired. also wonder why you just wasted what you blew on doing so, but hay, that's what life's for, right? oh and whatever you do, don't waste your time on television or radio, unless its in a strange town and has programing and commercials you're not familiar with. mass media culture is probably why you feel like you're in a sim.
I never settle for imitations. Simulated randomness seems, redundant. Especially considering all the lowbrow slapstick that even Vaudeville can't compete with. I am the pie-in-the-sky, looking at you.... I can cheat you blind!
