    Hello,

Same order of magnitude. There are two others in California and one in Montana (I think it is).

You people are amazing, you’ll hunt an animal to near extinction like the black bear then sooth your conscience by naming the place Bear Mountain Lodge, Bear Inn, Bear Lake……etc [IMG]

    Hello,

lots and lots of them. One Red Dog is located in Poland, though I'm not if it is the name of a place.

Umm, that would be Grizzly bears, not black bears. Just sayin'.

Bear ham is awesome! No, I don't hunt, but I get a lot of free game meat from hunters who "hunt for food" and " never waste anything"

    Hello,

I always have the imagination that the consistency of bear ham is like the sole of a shoe ;).

The Map the OP referenced was here in New England. We never had any grizzlies but around 1900 most of the Black Bears were killed off.

    They’ve made a comeback, and now they’re a nuisance

that should ''us people''......you are a people too.....and I am guessing some of those are honoring the bears and moose etc.....many native americans use ''bear'' in their place names and birth names....it is honorary

    :)

Well they may have been wiped out locally but I don't think they were ever hunted to near extinction like the Grizzly. I don't recall them ever being an endangered species.

So you're in Canada now, eh?

And I'd choose Bear Mountains in Oxford and Somerset County.

"Devil's __________" is another common one for all kinds of geological formations.
