PICK PICK PICK.....i hate fingerpicking....just my opinion tho....cus u cant get a nice sharp loud sound with fingers
I'm definitely a finger player. And if you want a sharper sound, play closer to the bridge. Although... it's a bass, it's supposed to have a deep sound... if you want a louder sound, pluck the string harder, or turn it up. I think bass is a very physical instrument, especially upright bass. I like to be in contact with it.
Rickenbacker makes some of the best bass guitars.. it's just that they're so darned expensive! I badly wanted to buy a Ric 4003 but it's way beyond my budget.. I'm probably going to settle for a Fender Jazz bass.
I play a Jazz bass most of the time and I own a precission as well, but my fave one is a Thunderbird. I like the look and the feel of a Rick but I simply sound like ass when I play one. Soon I'm getting an Epiphone EB0 as well. And yeah; I prefer flat wound strings and fingerstyle playing.
I play a 1949 kay upright bass in a bluegrass band. Played an electric no name fender copy in a rock band in the 60's....
At the moment I am playing an el' cheapo Nature Bass... for some reason it has a great sound dispite the price so I figure why bother paying for a name. My influences are RHCP, Audioslave and the Clash. Bass on.
I play both Electric Bass and Guitar, actually recently got accepted to Berklee College of Music to study but I'm still debating things. Bass is a wonderful instrument but, like everything, you get out of it what you put in. I have a Lakland 5502, plays very nice
Samick CR1, fingers and pick, all depends on the song. I like the sound of fingers quite a bit, but you can't argue with the precision of a pick.
