Badwolf-I agree, why bother indeed?! In fact I think blonde leg (+arm) hair glistening in sunshine looks incredibly sexy-got to be better than red bumps from shaving!
well some of us have very dark hair that doesn't exactly glisten in the sunlight & we're beautiful too, right & sexy as well?! no red bumps here that's for sure!!!!
Hey no slight intended, I find dark hair attractive too-in many ways I find it sexier; it's something I've noticed about blonde body hair in sunshine! Obviously I don't select women on their body hair, but if they are happy go au naturele + stay as hairy as nature intended then I'm a very happy bunny whether hair is blonde or dark, fine or abundant.
Hmm... I just can't understand that with some of the people on here... Like, I can understand that some people personally like to keep themselves shaved because they like how it feels or looks on them, but I don't understand it when they are bothered by others baring leg hair... *shrugs* whatever.
seriously though, no worries here! i was only picking on ya! i'm glad there are some open-minded opinions around!
With Ithaca being what it is, I would figure that going natural would be more accepted there than in alot of other places. Go for it!
I shave my legs on whim....I had hairy legs at my Year 10 formal....HE HE! Rebel! I don't really care anyways. I get away with it anyhoo cos my friends are like "Well she is a hippy so it's OK for HER to not shave"...But they don't get away with it...MWA HA HA! OK I'm babbling.
I always thought I doomed my legs by shaving @ age 12. I had fine hair a little dark and I shaved to conform and feel like a woman. *sigh* anyway, I'd always only shave to the knee. a couple year later I quit, and my hair to the knee was coarser and darker significantly compared to the hair on my thighs. I work, and my leg hair looks weird to me, ssince it's dark and coarse to the knee and light and fine above it, so I just started shaving again after like 12 years. It's fun, but that's just me right here right now. But I used to lament that I ruined my finer hair by shaving at 12. Now, I see that a lot of folk on this thread say their hair is thicker to the knee than on the thigh. Is this normal? Anyone who never shaved have this? Or did I ruin it at age 12?
I don't think shaving makes any difference to the hair pattern; though when stubble first grows out it's blunt edged. When you started shaving your leg hair hadn't reached it's full mature state. I think you'll find most women have more profuse hair below knees + women with notably hairy thighs are in minority- not counting the tops of thigh where pubes run down a bit. My partner has a lot of conspicuous dark hair below knees, but little above + I really enjoy her natural hairiness. Did you ever get reactions (negative or positive) about your dark leg hair while you were working?
It doesn't make any difference at all. Everyone's hair, generally, is thicker and darker on the calves. I totally don't shave or pluck. I think it's a little much to ask people to do-"I think your legs look really gross naturally, with all that hair on them. Why don't you shave it off". ??? That's my LEG HAIR! WHAT DO YOU MEAN CUT IT OFF? How backwards is that? To be offended when someone doesn't shave? Silly. I totally wear skirts and everything. I think that my armpit hair is actually quite sexier than bald. It's soft and light brown. Bald, to me is gross. Plus it makes my pits itch, and scratching your pits isn't all that sexy.
At work I used to have people stare at my legs and if I wore pants, they'd like peek around up them...... or was I just paranoid? Who knows. Should I just ask them, "are you looking at my leg hair? Isn't it nice, how it ripples in the breeze?" No one ever says anything ever about stuff like that to your face. It's all behind your back. Someone who shaves will have more insight into what shavers say behind people's backs. Shaving is totally weird so far. I like the act of shaving (I can't articulate why since it should be a pain in the ass), the unparanoid feeling being at work in crops, and the feeling of lotioning without swirling hair. There is a strange feeling of missing it though, especially since I have been schooled on the fact that the dark hair below the knee/light hair above the knee is normal!! What a moron I can be.
I guess it's cool to experiment to find what you're most comfortable with- hairy or bare + at end of the day you can be flexible- let the hair grow when you're bored with shaving or seasonally in colder months. Conversely if you're bored with hair or just relish the ritual of shaving then you can do that too. It's certainly more common to have hairier shins than thighs, but I wouldn't (easy for me a guy to say this) let some colleague or friend dictate to you that you should shave. I guess a partner may have a little influence on whether you choose to shave, but ultimately you have to be comfortable with yourself, whether hairy or hairless! I love it when a woman leaves her legs (+ every thing else!) natural + hairy, though saying that I've found it sexy to watch hairy legs being shaved, though I soon get bored with smooth legs + definitely prefer hairy to hairless; enjoy running my hands over roughness of well-grown stubble as hair grows back. Have fun with your leg hair, whether letting the breeze blow through it, or shaving!
i'm comfortable either way. i haven't shaved any of my hair for months, and it feels very liberating. i might shave for the summer though, i still haven't decided.
does anyone else have this strange thing, where your legs are pretty hairy at the front, and barely even hairy at the back? i wonder what it's from...it's kind of embarrasing though. haha
I've seen other women (+ guys!) with this pattern, so it's not that unusual. I think the nice fact about unshaved legs is it has more individuality- everyone has different patterns of hair growth whereas hairless legs are so uniform, without personality! Do you have any obvious arm or thigh hair? I've seen some women with extremely hairy legs who have virtually hairless arms, some with fairly hairy thighs, while others only the faintest hair growth. Yup all different, but it's fun seeing the variations.
An answer from a gay male, you rock sister!!! The human body has hair. The cosmetic industry earns billions by convincing woman that their natural image is inappropriate.
I'd love to just stop shaving my legs. I, myself don't see anything wrong with it. However, I'm a bit of a shy person, easily affected by the thoughts and opinions of those around me, and I don't think that I could deal with the comments from people. Though, last night I was cuddling with my boyfriend, and I haven't shaved in about a week so I didn't want him touching my legs and getting grossed out, but he said he didn't really care about stuff like that, and to quote him "Why should I care about hair on a girl's legs? For goodness sake, look at MY legs!". That sort of gave me a boost, I don't know, I just might try it.
