Worked in the yard today...barefoot, of course. I pity those who believe they must wear boots, pants, gloves, etc. I like to be in contact with the earth.

Well, I'm not crazy. If something has stickers, I'll use gloves. The previous owner of my property had planted many shrubs with stickers. I systematically rooted them out. The last hold-out is a holly plant, which is dying anyway.

Tyrsonswood, again, I'm not crazy. I think I'd put on a canvas suit to work on that thing. But like I said, I've systematically worked to rid rid of the pointy things from my yard.

Canvas wouldn't help... Honey Locust thorns will go through a steel belted car tire.

Well, a walk through your woods might not be so pleasant if those thorns fall to the ground. Goathead thorns have been my nemesis; I've learned to recognize them. I once lived in a place where they were all over the back yard. Painful, but puny compared to those Honey Locust thorns.

I go barefoot every chance I get, but the first 2 months of yard work after spreading the weed killer, then the fertilizers, I wear my vans....its amazing the stuff that suddenly appears or like above, just grows out of the ground.:sunglasses:

I never wear shoes when doing yard work. I wish to feel the earth under my bare soles, feel connected with it.

Aaaaah those damn goat heads. They are super annoying but I guess you get used to them, although the ones that plague my yard every now and then are pretty small normally. My husband and I can't stand as well but my kids seem to just not give a s**t. They play in the yard for hours on end and just before they come in, you can see their feet just covered in those things.

I love to do yard work in my bare feet and yes I’m barefoot all year around my bare feet turn a little green when I cut my lawn and I even string trim in bare feet I have my neighbors tell me I’m crazy but I’m the winter I snow blow barefoot and that feels great also .

So do I. Although I'm shoe-less, I wear safety glasses because the trimmer tends to throw grass and other bits up toward my face.

In the scorching weather here i've been working on my allotment barefoot this week, lovely feeling the soft earth beneath your feet. A few curious looks from other plot holders !

I don't like those noisy ass string trimmers. I use one of these things.

IMO they work better if sharp one swing cuts grass down better then power trimmer.

Mine looks like a golf club. You get good at it getting the right cut height on your swings.

There just happened to be a picture of a barefooter using one in image results this website The Right Tool for the Job- Weed Cutters

That is not me. That's not my foot.
