Where does everyone keep getting this notion that you must go around barefoot just to be a hippy? I have never seen anyone post that anywhere. My previous long reply was just defending my right to not wear shoes if I don't want to. As well as the other hippies who would rather go barefoot. Some hippies wear shoes, some hippies don't.
Listen to me very closely, nobody gives a hairy rats ass if you wear shoes or not, just stay our of public places if you don't, this is 2010, not 1968, times have changed, get it ?? I live in Pittsburgh, not all that far from you, now knock it off or I'll find you and step all over your feet.. Peace
Kinda hard to do if I don't even own shoes. Wow, you are definately NOT a hippie. First you were arguing the fact that not all hippies go barefoot (which is true). Now you are telling all hippies that they MUST wear shoes. Who are you to tell us what to do?
God designed us to be naked too, but guess what, most of live in places where that isn't practical. God also designed men not to shave, but facial hair sucks. I'm just saying, eventually you probably will need shoes. While this is true in some places, the fact is most people around the world have always made some kind of shoe, they're not a modern western invention. Shoes of various forms literally pre-date civilization by thousands of years. Even in ancient Rome/Greece people were not barefoot, most people wore sandals.
In case you are unaware, Yes... they did have shoes in Roman times, but shoes were usually only worn by people of wealth or importance (with the exception of some Roman soldiers). Peasants or common folks mostly lived their lives barefoot.
No, that is trying to rewrite history, most Romans wore shoes, in fact the city of Rome was pretty filthy, you would not want to walk around it without some kind of footware on. Anyone who didn't have shoes was someone who couldn't afford them, the Romans were very into fashion, shoes included. Boots were also standard issue with Roman military uniform.
I didn't say anybody HAS to wear fucking shoes or not. I said NOBODY GIVES A RATS ASS IF YOU DO OR NOT. i was worried you were feeding the trolls on here, ha your the troll here, I'm not a hippy ?? Ok I'll take it you're an authority on that fact child.... You don't have a clue and you are becoming cumbersome, I truly hope you get ripped to shreads here.. I'm not a hippy "thus spake the child" :smilielol5: Peace
If I remember my history right, in Rome slaves and prisoners (same thing) were forced to go barefoot.
Actually slaves were made to go naked as a way to show that they are not part of society and own absolutely nothing. Some were even branded.
Madcap, gimme that old time degradation. But also if a slave was out and about they would be easily identified and questioned, if they were wandering about barefoot. Makes slipping away more difficult.
OMG, sometimes I want to bang my head because of all the closed-minded thinking. Why would it be difficult for them to slip away? I have not owned a pair of shoes in at least 2 years. I go everywhere barefoot including 5 mile walks in the summer with my outdoors group and even hiking through the woods for miles completely barefoot. Last year I even went on a trip from PA to Vermont and did not have shoes. If I can do all of that without even thinking about shoes, why would it be hard for a slave to slip away just because they have no shoes?
How dare you tell me I am not a hippy. You dont know what I am. The internet is a place for alter egos. I could fucking be Tommy Chong for all you know.
I do pay taxes, live on my own and pay all of my own bills. I have my own mail order home-business, I am a college student, and a part-time radio DJ at a local radio station. Isn't it amazing that a dirty barefoot hippie (as you referred to me) can be a contributing member of society?
who's the botox queen? and those feet arent the blackened flinstone feet I was referring to, but I would still tell you you had to put shoes on in my restaurant. Rules are for everyone.
