Barefoot Un-friendly States

I have a neutral position on this, but wow man.

 

I've been to Miami 2 or 3 times and have never seen toxic waste or nasty stuff on the streets.

 

I say those feet need a serious washing jimmy..

 

Ok first of all, I have never been to any Wendy's that required me to wear shoes. K-mart, I did get yelled at but when I emailed them proof that there is no law against it, they emailed me back saying "You are right, therefore shoes are not required to shop at K-Mart". Wal-Mart is a crap shoot, it depends if the greeter is a Nazi or doesnt care.

Yes, there are people with nasty looking feet. But think about it for a minute. The people who wear shoes usually have the nasty deformed feet. Every barefooter I've seen usually has healthy looking feet.

I think it's very unhippie like to cut me down just because I don't own shoes. I thought that going barefoot was as much a part of the hippie lifestyle as wearing tye dyed clothing. I just don't understand where this hostility is coming from?

Try to come to China and go barefeet . That would be interesting. Want to visit me in Harbin (Haerbin)China? You'd be running towards the nearest store, vying for the first pair of shoes you could find, if your feet did not freeze off first. In other words, it is called being practical!

 

I think it is very "unhippie" like to shop at Wendys, K-mart and Walmart. You are selling out to "the man". Hypocritical asshole...

 

When you are away on vacation, even us hippies need to buy basic necessities and toiletries. Those are the 2 cheapest places I know to buy toiletries and stuff. Sorry if that makes me an asshole.

Hippie is not defined by what you wear, jeez. My point is complaining about not being able to go barefoot in some public places is horribly not pragmatic in the slightest.

And no, most people who wear shoes don't have deformed feet. Where is this logic even coming from? I never wear shoes if I'm going outside in my own yard in the summer but if you can't admit the fact walking on the ground 1. makes you feet dirty, 2. makes them extremely calloused, well then I don't know.

Point is maybe you should buy a pair of shoes, or at least sandals, what do you wear to work.

And trust me, most people in Africa do want shoes. Only people in western countries who get to go home to their swanky homes with heating and running water and can take showers and have well looked after towns and cities make an issue of not wearing shoes.

 

I actually gave you more credit than that. Not only is it a proven fact but common knowledge that mostly all foot problems in western societies are caused by shoes. Buions, defomed toes, bad arches, etc, etc. I can usually just by looking at someone's feet if they wear shoes most of the time or not. It's like leaving your arm in a cast for hours a day and expecting it to perform perfectly the way nature intended.

So they get dirty, who cares? Ever hear of a bath or a shower?

They may get calloused at first but after that you just get very thick padding on the bottoms of your feet. Newsflash *** This is the way God or nature designed you to be. If you don't have shoes, nature takes over and pads your feet with extra skin to protect you against rough surfaces and extreme temps. Just think about it for just one minute from a nature standpoint. Don't you see the obvious?

I am a college student and for money I have my own home mail order business. I don't need shoes for either of those places, so why do I HAVE TO run out and buy some shoes?

FYI - There are many uncataloged tribes deep in the Amazon and in remote African areas who have been living for 10,000 years without ever wearing shoes, and most often time completely naked. They are happy, thriving societies. They have no need for western clothing because they let their bodies naturally develop and adapt to the environment. If they have never used shoes in 10,000 years, what makes you think they are eager for you to force shoes on them?

 

If you want to go barefoot in wal mart, you are not a hippy. hippys dont go to walmart unless its to protest.

If you want to go barefoot period, you are not necessarily a hippy. consequently, you can also be a hippy and wear shoes at the same time.

If you come in my restaurant lookin like Pigpen from Charlie Brown I will send you away. thats nasty, tracking up my floor like that. WHat if my other customers see your gross nasty dirtfeet? It is unappetizing. Clean bare feet are OK in certain circumstances.. Dirty bare feet are unappealing and therefore unacceptable to anyone except those who have dirty feet. That is a huge minority so those people can fuck off till they wash their nasty feet.

Not to mention lawsuit implications. It may not be illegal to go barefoot in stores and shit, but that does not mean that it isn't against company policy, and the company has every right to refuse your business for whatever reason they want.

 

I was away on a trip and I needed some personal care items. Wal-Mart was the cheapest place to go and get them. Sorry if going in there is against the "hippie code of ethics". What do you care, you are obviously not a hippie anyway if you would turn away other hippies from your business just because they don't have shoes.

Hahaha... I don't purposely leave my feet dirty, but yes my soles get dirty by the end of the day. Just as dirty as the soles of your other customer's shoes. Actually usually when my feet look dirty it does not track off of my feet. Meaning I could touch my soles with clean hands and my hands will remain clean. People who wear shoes are completely unaware of what they are stepping in since they have no feeling. They are literally tracking in oil, dog feces, squashed worms and all sorts of NASTY stuff onto your floors. Talk about unsanitary. Do you make them remove their shoes before they sit down?

Well Sherlock, I hate to tell you this but when I used to wear flip-flops, it would make the soles of my feet dirtier looking than if I would go completely barefoot. Also, what if some hippie was walking barefoot all day and had dirty feet and put on flips to come into your place. Would you still ask them to leave? I have to know the answer to this. I have seen many people walking around with flip-flops and everyone can still see their dirty feet. You must run a tight ship. Are you the Soup-Nazi from that one Seinfeld episode?
