Dunno. Just thought of this. Has anyone ever tied a pair of roller skates on bare feet and skated? It looks pretty sexy to me, but then there must be practical matters (staying on the feet) that I'm ignoring. Barefoot roller boarding--by all means, but barefoot roller skating??
If you mean the kind that are strapped to shoes, then I don’t think I would be interested in that. Those type of skates as I remember are made to clamp around shoes and they would slip off all the time with the straps wrapped around the ankle and the skate banging around the foot. Sounds like that could lead to injury limiting safer barefoot activities.
I approach my enthusiasm for the bare foot state from an anatomical standpoint. It’s better for these structures. Shoes protect the skin (well, socks and shoes), and skates are very rough on the dorsal part of the foot. I tried this as a youth with clamp on skates and rentals. Clamp on skates cut and scraped my dorsal surface. Rentals hurt the plantar surface. I’d love to find skates with wide enough toe boxes.
