I'm barefoot at the moment. But flipflops if I go out of the house (paved road), and running shoes elsewhere. Too many poisonous snakes, scorpions, and biting centipedes to risk it in the fields or jungle.
The insects twist and bite the sole of your foot mostly, so yes, flipflops are protection. Pit Vipers go for your ankles, but they are on trails in the Jungle, I've stepped on two of those and escaped unbitten, they are aggressive and stand their ground. Cobras are a night problem, you step on one in the field at night when it's sleeping and you're dead ...... during the day they avoid you, and they move faster than a running man. ... I've encountered plenty, but you only ever see the tails as they rush away from you.
Got them too, but it's often 35-40c, sweaty feet in the jungle when walking/running 15Km ain't a lot of fun. But my Nike trail runners are pretty cool. Went running with an American girl wearing those rubber individual toes footwear once, her feet were a real mess after. Might be good for groomed trails, but not here.
And on mountain trails ...... not flat (not fast either). I also do downhill on a bicycle (broke my jaw falling off 2 months back, nearly healed now) Just because you're old doesn't mean you have to give up living (or competing in 1/2 marathons).
As Usual My Answer Is Yes.......10 Years And 3 Months......And Hoping For Many More...... Cheers Glen.
I wish. Between work and winter I barely get to go barefoot anymore. I'm always barefoot in my house but I don't think that counts.
like me, i struggle to get barefoot time in. especially now in the middle of winter. i cannot wait until spring.
