I was checking this last name on whitepages and I'm not very satisfied with the description: It may have referred to a peasant unable to afford even the simplest type of footwear, or to someone who went barefoot as a religious penance. http://m.names.whitepages.com/last/Barefoot Would be nice to add "barefoot by choice", like Louise Sugarman. Well....lots of last names were derived from jobs....like Baker, Cooper, Shoemaker, and Smith....and then colors...Brown, Green, Black, White...and a select few are named Shoe...which brings me to the issue of relevance...YES I ENJOY GOING BAREFOOT....and then there's.....
