What surface, what environment gives you the maximum barefoot pleasure? Fresh mud? Shopping in a store (cool dirty tiles)? Filthy parking garages? Stinging hot blacktop? Damp cool morning grass? Snow? Elevator steps? Mine, by a mile, is mud. I can't get enough of it. It really feels like fucking the ground. mmmmmmmm

    Your turn!

I really enjoy cool, damp grass. Walked almost two miles today on cool damp grass my feet loved it. Also had an opportunity to share with a seasoned citizen the joy of barefoot walking,
I saw him walking on the blacktop walking path, fifteen minutes later I saw him walking along side the blacktop on the grass. He said he decided to walk in the grass like I was. I stopped and told him he was half way there. He looked puzzled so I told him he needed to loose his shoes and socks. We talked about ten minutes he indicated he would try when it warmed up.

I guess I find most surfaces good. Whilst going barefoot for years and since Covid almost 24/7 I have recently started undertaking long barefoot walks on the weekends. One of my favourite walks starts at a shopping centre carpark (where I leave my car) and then goes about 4-5kms through suburbs. This is a nice mix of smooth and coarse concrete footpaths with the occasional grass. I love the feel of those surfaces on my bare soles, This is followed by 4-5kms along a riverfront which is a choice of concrete footpaths or nice mowed grass. I tend to swap and change depending how my feet feel! Conveniently this part also has a cafe where I can get coffee and some breakfast still barefoot
The pure sensual feeling of a 10km walk barefoot is something that is hard to beat  At the end my soles feel alive!

I have a couple of parks I go to for barefoot walks. Most of the surface is grass. There is also a mulch trail and the baseball diamonds are covered in a fine gritty material that feels good on the feet. I also have to walk on blacktop to cross over to other walkways. I wish there was a coffee shop near by, that would be fun to walk into barefoot.
