This is where I draw the line. I wouldn’t mind walking barefoot in the rain if little twigs/sticks, dirt, pebbles etc didn’t end up sticking to my wet feet. Do you bare your feet despite the weather?

  2. Especially in the rain! Everything feels so different---smoother, easier, glossier. Ah, water!

I actually like it. Plus, wet ground and asphalt will scrub your soles good.

  4. I bare my soles in all kinds of weather--rain, snow, heat, cold. Variety is the ... something of something....

I don't last long in snow. I can be out the time it takes to chop some wood, but as a safety rule i stay clear of too much cold. I'm no walrus, spite of the appearance .
I didn't see any snow on the last 12 years here, maybe longer.

You’re very brave. I’m impressed with snow. I went to the beach recently and the sand was burning hot, and yet I made it through. But I wouldn’t recommend it.

Snow or ice would be a challenge. I think it’s the extremes that bother me.

Actually hot sand is worse than snow but less dangerous. I walk over blacktop, but sand really cooks your feet , i can feel the burn in my damn bones. I should spend the entire summer on the beach to get accustomed to that. Snow doesn't hurt but is a sneaky bastard that can and will give you frostbite.

Hot sand is death lol But then the cool ocean water makes everything better.

Nothing more refreshing than walking barefoot during and after a rain storm. Pure joy.

I even do snow. In my experience, -10 Celsius or less (=14 Fah) is perfectly doable for about 5 minutes without ill effects. Of course, I urge one to practice and acclimate first, and as a safety rule, always stay close to a safe, warm place where you can evac quickly, if things start feeling too bad. You have your senses for a reason, listen to them.

As for rain, the great thing about it is that it creates these convenient little puddles that you can use to wash your feet for free. Ditto for the water running from rain gutters. Also, wet grass is a good place to get rid of those pesky twigs and dirt by wiping your feet against it. Living barefoot means living tactically. Know your surroundings and plot your course accordingly. To be honest, I hate dog shit and industrial chemicals a lot more.

I hadn’t considered dog shit lol How long have you been living the barefoot lifestyle? I like it but if I’m honest, I also love shoes. Styles, etc - I’m not obsessed with fashion but going all in with a barefoot lifestyle would be challenging for me.

Yesterday after work I had to do some shopping and due to heavy rain, I spontaneously decided to go barefoot as I didn’t want to get my leather sandals drenched. Though I go barefoot pretty often these were shops where I usually would have let my sandals on probably. It was fun because in the street there were big puddles I just could walk through while the shoedies tried to jump over them or find another way. Twice I got a remark (once in a shop and once at the ATM) that going with naked feet is the best idea concerning the weather. As it was not really cold, it was a nice fun! And by the rain you don’t get your feet so filthy as you usually get them by walking around town at dry weather.

No one says you have to be barefoot 24x7. There are circumstances where its wise to have something on your feet. Go barefoot when you want to and enjoy it. That's what its all about imo.

Walking barefoot in rain is amazing. Wet grass and puddles are an easy way to clean off any mud that sticks to my soles. Also, rain showers during summertime provide a perfect excuse to take my sandals off and just continue walking barefoot without other passersby finding it too strange. It is like anywhere I go instantly becomes beachfront property, even if I live hundreds of miles away from the nearest coast, so nobody really bats an eye that my feet are bare!

Not as long as you might think. Only about 13 years. I was a foot shy kid in a past life, and had to learn all of this. The snow walking thing came about as a way to cure a fungal infection. What started as a bit of a necessity became a new lifestyle.

You're right. To be honest, I didn't really know there were ''communities'' of barefoot people roaming the earth until coming to HF. I blame all of you for making me try new things! :tearsofjoy:
