Heh... I was keeping quiet on this one, but now that the silence is broken... After spending years canyon racing and following the amateur road racing circuit in CA, I was used to full leathers, back protector, heavy boots and gloves and a full-face helmet to go to the store and back. Given the total lack of any road longer than 7 miles (unless you want to go around in a circle) here, those days are long gone, but still fondly remembered. There are just some things that I don't/wouldn't do barefoot. Motorcycling, downhill skiing and offroad downhill mountain biking among them.
I also drive barefoot most of the time. I say most because if it's at work, and I have other workers in my truck, I usually do not have the time or chance to take off my boots and put them back on between sites. However when it's just me in the truck, yes, off come the boots and socks (if I'm wearing socks). Driving to work, I'm barefoot and immediatley after my shift I'm barefoot for the drive home. On my personal time I always drive barefoot, Hell I'm barefoot all the time except when working!!
