    Interesting. I wonder what the back story is. I sing a lot, and I find I'm much more grounded and supported if I'm barefoot.

    I guess quite a lot of choirs perform barefoot. You just can sing better this way.

    Also prevents the dreaded patent-leather shoe squeak. There is a photo of a chorus recording under the great American composer Aaron Copland. Standing on risers, the woman all have their shoes off. Would the men did too. Even Maria Callas and Joan Sutherland doffed footwear when making records.
