English Heritage website says many people walk barefoot at Stonehenge at all seasons. Certainly youtube videos of the winter solstice celebrations show a few barefoot revellers, some apparently not even having footwear with them, despite the cold ground and, presumably, dew at that time in the morning. I did a barefoot footwear-less trip to Stonehenge from London by train a couple of summers ago but haven't yet been to a solstice. Has anyone here done this? It's on my to-do list!
is there supposed to be some significance to going barefoot there? like, why is it brought up in random websites?
The Neolithic Britons who built Stonehenge didn’t chose to build at that location on Salisbury Plain, the location chose them. The sun has spots and so doesn’t the earth. Stonehenge happens to be located on one of those spots, and to experience it fully you need to remove your shoes and go barefoot.
