Banning guns

At one time I had in my home 1 Jennings .22 semi auto pistol 2 .22 caliber rifles

1 .357 magnum 1 20 gauge shotgun(sawed off no less illegal as H*ll.) 2 12 gauge shotguns.

I no longer own any sort of gun but I firmly support the rights of sane,responsible citizens to own all the gusn they please. The fact is that the large majority of gun related crimes are commited by a tiny minority of gun owners.

Canadians own far moe guns than Americans but Canada has a much lower crime rate.

 

maybe they'll develop extra air pressure spud guns.

My heart wants to say yes, but my mind knows that it would only accomplish a more subservent world... i dont own a gun but my logic forsees a grim future would follow
citizens without guns + military/police = hell

 

But Canada still kisses the queens but over in England.

I think I have too many guns too but hell, I like them, it was my money so why not.

Is this question just for Americans? If so, I am surprised at the number of people that voted yes. Almost 1/3! Right to bear arms is a constitutional right. I am curious as to how many of the people that wish to ban guns in the US voted against the Patriot Act. I am curious about the correlation between wanting to ban guns and believing the Patriot Act in infringing on your constitutional rights. Would be interested to hear peoples viewpoints regarding this.

 

That's a very good point, wackyiraqi! I'd like to know that too.

To clarify some things, not all guns are registered, nor are they required to be. Only people who are licensed firearms dealers have to register the guns they sell. If I sold you one of my guns, an exchange of money and maybe a hand shake and the deal would be done. That's all legal.

On another point, all the talk of if the people stabbing people had guns then the outcome would be much worse. What if in those cases, the people getting stabbed had guns. The outcome would definitely be different. I'd venture that if there were any deaths, it would only be the guy using the knife.

It doesn't get much plainer than that!

With all due respect, Roct, you are wrong about registration. I've been a licensed gun dealer; when a customer buys a gun he fills out a one page "Form 4473" that mostly states that he is not prohibited by law from making the purchase. The dealer keeps those forms, and the government never sees them unless the dealer goes out of business or he gets an official BATF inspection or a policeman visits with a search warrant. A story - I got out of the business and boxed up my records and sent them in as required. A couple of years later I decided to restart business, and I asked for my old records back so I could continue them (which is a common request normally honored by BATF). They wrote back that they had lost them, so I should just start all over again. So much for "registration".

There ARE, however, guns that are registered - fully automatic weapons, silencers/suppressors, antitank guns with a bore larger than 1/2", etc. Normal sporting and self-defense guns are not registered.

 

Well she still is the Canadian head of state, and really, didn't get full independence till 1982 when Canada won the right to change its own constitution without the consent of Britain

 

Most of the really invasive laws that violate the US rights are done without a vote or added to a measure that needs a vote such as

I have seen this many times.

 

I would love to see this world without guns.

 

So do I, but banning guns is only going to make things worse

 

I want a world without my taxes paying for violent criminals to live and have a better life than the elderly of our country, I want a world that my taxes dont supoort people too damn lazy to get off thier ass and get a job and pay thier own way until they are old but that aint gonna happen.
