I'm surprised this wasn't posted. So a couple days ago, article 13 was passed, which requires platforms like facebook, youtube, and twitter to prevent copyrighted content from being posted, through filtering. I think most large platforms will develop content filtering mechanisms, instead of being blocked in EU countries. Some platforms won't, especially the smaller ones. What memes will be banned? Will you create workarounds, like handdrawing some memes or altering them in some way? Will you start using new memes? And what about video or audio memes? Those would be harder to alter. What memes will you have to say goodbye to, and what memes can stay?
It'll effect everyone, even people in the US. This law is about filtering content before it's posted, rather than censorship. So you count on only using EU-banned platforms through VPN?
I really don't care if I can post or see memes so that whole presence doesn't bother me. Maybe it'll get me in the air a little bit more. away from the internet. I'd quite like that. But until then a VPN is fine I can ping anywhere in the world to look at anything I want to.
well that's just how memes work anyway. you don't use the same meme for more than a couple weeks; you use it while it's new and then you move on to a different one.
It can work that way, or memes are just used whenever they fit. There are a lot of older memes that are copyrighted content. It would kind of suck to see a perfect opportunity for a certain meme and not be able to put it in.
Anyhoo, couldnt be bothered reading up on what the legislation is actually trying to do, but i doubt it means you are all going to have to sign up for a VPN to post memes. Then again, still dont really get why the EU exists, you want a free trade agreement sure, but whats that got to do with soneone in another country telling you how many immigrants you will take in. You dont see US, Australia, Japan....or China doing it. Why? Seriously...Why?
china? them mofos cant look at shit lol. redirect your VPN to china and you cant see shit lol. every now and again germany seems to block HF too, then it'll come back. i have no problem pinging to america or australia though. I ping often from australia for my banking and sportsbet. i can also search most anything like sometimes EU servers wont allow certain things.
European memes will prosper. All the EU has done is to challenge every computer geek in the world to find a way to post copyrighted material on the European continent.
