    Do you believe in either?

What would you consider bad luck? Getting bit by a huge cockroach? Maybe?

Also if someone told you they cursed you and it so happened that your life went downhill after that and never fully recovered years later...when would you start to believe that maybe they really did curse you?

Bad luck? Sure, that is a way of perception.
    Curses? Nope.

All kinds of good and bad shit happen to everyone. Some get more of one, some more of the other. Mostly it is perception and if you believe in curses you will live your life according and thus blame bad things on that.
In that way curses do exist for those who believe in them and act accordingly.

I heard a quote. 'Hard work puts you in a position for good luck to happen' its hard to argue with that

I could very easily argue with that. A relative of mine did some very hard work and while he was working hard that piece of work fell on him and killed him.

My grandma was doing some very hard work and hurt her shoulder so badly she had to have surgery and years later she still can't use it 100%.

I was working so hard when I was "cursed" that I slept at my work, so I could do everything that needed to be done as soon as I woke up the next morning and start all over again. I spent about 95% of my time at work and didn't get paid for those extra hours, at all...but I may have gotten cursed.

Oh and everyone else that worked there(though they barely worked) was cursed too. Or we just all have incredibly bad luck.

Nevertheless since I was bitten by a cockroach tonight, I decided to not go to sleep and I have likely broken my hf binge and returned to my work of writing stuff for money. So maybe it was actually a blessing in disguise.

Also I never believe I am cursed until something incredibly ridiculous and unlikely happens. It just happens that the past several years have been full of really crazy unlikely things and particularly the past few months. Of course some good stuff happened too, but I think those things weren't unexpected, they were the things that I worked for. I'm not sure what I'm doing to work for all these bad things. I'll gladly quit if I knew what it was that I was doing.

Curses can only affect you if you hold some belief in them. So for me personally I don't believe in curses. Bad luck is a way of experiencing things, probably everyone has experienced bad luck some time in their life. It is not always avoidable I think.

I seen a homeless beggar the other day and he had a sign that said

    "no money"
    "no job"
    "no food"
    "no luck"

stuff happens, it has nothing to do with luck, you create your own luck (life)

Some people are busy creating their own life and then get a chronical disease for example. What do you mean it has nothing to do with luck? Did you ask that hobo how he got there? Or simply figured that since you had no bad luck he couldn't have either?

I think there are 4 areas of things when it comes to "curses".

1)Karma type stuff. Within that there's the concept of karma within a lifetime. And across reincarnations.

2)Curses where people have an irrational terror or fear eg people who are terrified by voodoo etc.

Sometimes I think they lack confidence, want to be "victims" and feel that proof of this curse poor lets them believe in something "bigger". They want to blame someone else for their failings.

3)Then you have curses of the type that fits "mind programming".
I think that we can become victim to subliminal stuff. Its like a "backdoor into the brain" and whilst it may be presented as some sort of "supernatural art", it is actually learnable in a scientific format.

4)I've seen people who DO seem to be cursed. But in reality, they are causing the curse. For instance, I know a criminal who lost his money. Deep down, he feels gulty about this, and is cursing himself. Its a form of karma, you could say.

I know someone else who is always saying he is cursed. In reality tho, he sabotages things for himself, because he wants something else in his life, but cant step back and admit it.

Personally, I think there are 3 types of luck. The one you were born with, the one that will appear random to you (ie beyond your control). And the one in your environment that you can change. Its the Chinese view btw.

I totally believe in karma, but I don't think of karma as a curse at all. I was part of cult though and that is what I'm talking about, it was as if we were all brainwashed. I was always a rebel and while it may have helped me in some ways, it produced more guilt, because I never even did things the way I supposed to or really ever believed in the whole cult, I was just somehow exploring and in the midst of it.

I do feel like I lost my confidence and my sense of self after being attacked by all the cult members for being a rebel. It is incredible to me how much work it's been to recover myself and my confidence... maybe that is the issue. I don't think the cult leader really had any "spiritual" power over me or that he still does. But he certainly got into the subconscious of all of us. I've seen the others experience a scarier recoil than I've had. I always had a pretty stable sense of spirituality in my opinion and that has never left me, but because of the deep psychological attacks I experienced, I am somewhat spooked by some of the things that happen to me sometimes probably because my confidence is still in the rebuilding phase.

Sorry, not trying to de-rail the thread and take it totally off topic. Just seems pretty interesting to me... glad you got away from it and all without much damage. How long ago was all of this?

It was about 5 years ago! It took a whole 6 months to detox to the point of feeling human and apart of the universe again. It completely derailed my entire life path and I still see traces of it...I still communicate with some of the people, one of them I have to because we created children, etc.
