It was mainly on impulse. I don't see the point in growing dreads I worked on. I'm going to try again with neglect.
i'm beginning to get confused on the massive influx of neglect being the best way. and how if things are backcombed or any other method they're inferior to other dreads but in your case, best of luck going neglect you rocked the dreads, can't wait to see your new ones in time.
Gotta do whatcha gotta do mang. I'm sure the next set will turn out nice as fuck. If you wanna trade heads of hair any time soon, holla at ya boy. Or should I say hollister@yaboy. Hahahaimdrunk.
It's not that neglect is the best it's just that a big part of dreads is letting go of your control over your hair. Also, almost all of the techniques to "maintain" dreads are damaging, and some people don't want that. On the subject of why you see a lot of pro-neglect/anti-technique sentiments... people with neglect dreads usually don't give a fuck when people have misconceptions about them, unless it is in a situation that actually matters (i.e. not on the internet), and it's not surprising that they will view that as a better way to live. People who manicure their dreads usually care, sometimes way to much, and it makes them incredibly easy to :troll: There are plenty of non-neglect heads on the forum that don't catch flack because they are fine with their decision to backcomb or whatever, and are perfectly able to ignore any trash talk or tell haters to fuck off without getting whiny. It's been noted in here before that in the real world your gonna get shit sometimes just for having dreads, regardless of how you grew/got/maintain them and if you can't handle a little e-criticism then you're probably gonna have trouble having locks. These are just my feelings on the subject... think of the lulz :biggrinjester:
now i get what you're saying here. but "manicuring dreads" doesn't really mean the same as backcombing or twist n rip or any of the other methods used to start dreads. thats why i don't really get why some people really rip on those starting methods, cause usually it seems people who start with those methods let their hair do its own thing afterwards, they just needed a little boost
I expanded on my above post a little... If you want to talk to me more about it, we could perhaps move this convo to a more appropriate thread like mine (aFoolOnaDread Thread), or the off-topic thread on second thought, aydin probably doesn't care what we fill his shitty timeline with
