And at £17 000 a year that's more than millions of people get a year in the UK. All the best to the little fella, just sayin.'

I never felt so miserable as my first day at primary school. I'm sure little Lord Fauntleroy there will receive a better reception.

I like the child. It's a double-edged sword I guess being born into royalty. I suppose he needs the right training to be King. Royalty is just not my thing.

18 grand says the Guardian - but I supose they can have that much out of petty cash, unlike other benefit recipients.

Personally I feel sorry for the kid. His life is marked out for him.No choice, no freedom. An endless round of opening new roads, launching ships, making pointless speeches and the rest of the invaluable services the family provide.

I do think the Royals get a bit of a raw deal and easier target because they are forever 'in the public eye', when it comes to their income:-

    - Prince William is the first royal in the line of succession to ever hold a civilian contract-- in August of 2014, the 32-year old joined the East Anglian Air Ambulance as a helicopter pilot.
The job services ill or hurt citizens stuck in remote parts of England.
His current salary is £40,000 pounds before taxes, or about $62,000 a year.
Most of his earnings, however, will go to an undisclosed charity.-
    - And then there are:-

So when it comes to privilege perhaps children of other positions needs to be equally measured (?)

Hopefully we'll not have a royal family by then.

There will always be a Royal family - despite what Parliamentarians champion, the Country needs them - for tourism, marking, as well as being a non-partisan figurehead

Come on, how much tourism does the Royal family generate though

How much income do they generate from all sources

Plus the Queen is just holder of federal land, in my country its just the government, whats the difference (technically as your head of state, its the same thing)
When there assets are listed it usually includes the value of that land, and a lot of the time its not like they can just up and sell it

Also, if you dont have Royals, a certain subset of the population will just end up deifying someone anyway - so what do you get in America? The frickin Kardashians become pseudo Royals anyway

Or worse, in my country its bloody Shane Warne

I wish Australia had a Royal Family, our head of state is the governor general, I dont even know who that is without googling

The U.S. generates plenty of tourism without any royalty. How much of the tourist money in the U.K. is distributed to the royal family just because?
