Do you ever do this? I hate cell phones because I don't like being available to people everywhere I go, at every minute of the day. I find myself keeping my phone on airplane mode a lot to avoid people's calls and text messages. I fucking hate talking on the phone.
I almost never answer my cell phone when someone calls. Actually, I get pretty anxious when someone calls me and I don't want to talk to them. Texts aren't so bad, I like to text, usually. But, rather than putting the phone on airplane mode, I just wouldn't bring it wherever I was going or whatever I was doing. Especially if I didn't want to be contacted.
If I don’t recognize the number I’ll let my phone go to voice mail. Also, I never talk on the phone while driving but anyone close to me already knows that. Hotwater
no, not really. it's usually work, and it's usually easier to just take care of whatever it is right then rather than wait until the issue grows. i don't like not knowing things, so if i miss a call the curiosity of why i was being called will drive me crazy.
if, for whatever reason, i really don't want to receive any calls or texts for a period of time, i just don't bring my phone with me wherever i'm going.
Me too!!! Also, I like to bring my phone with me when I go in the car because I keep my music on there which I listen to when I'm driving. Otherwise I would leave it behind.
I dont mind texting. Phone calls on the other hand fill me with anxiety. Oddly enough the only people I feel comfortable talking to on the phone are people I talked to before the era of cell phones..so basically my mom and my oldest friend. Otherwise I never answer the phone and most people know this - if you want me, text me and ill text you back whenever I feel like it gosh.
I'll take texting over talking on the phone any day for sure, but I don't particularly care for it. To me, talking on cell phones is way more uncomfortable than talking on a landline. There is something about the delay and the overall difficulty understanding people that I find discomforting. I hate having to say "What?," "Can you repeat that??"
Some phones have even taken i a step further and attach the gps to calls and texts, which is just uber creepy. I will never answer an unknown number, and I'm not going to drop what I'm doing to answer a call/text. But I'll get back to people just because it's considerate
All very recognizable. I am having a deja vu with this thread. Not only was there a similar one before, but also with the same people posting it I recall that before I used texting I had some opinion on that too, like how lazy and complacent to even avoid talking to someone on the phone But nowadays I prefer texting above calling too (unless it becomes an extensive convo of course)
Do you ever get those people who won't let you off the phone after a long time... i have to go now...dogs need to go out here but wait...let me tell you one more thing another hour.... i really have to go now ok, call me back
i never noticed the difference. i think i generally have a harder time understanding people on a landline, because with a cellphone i can go to a quiet location but a landline traps you near where everyone is standing around shouting at each other.
you can always turn them off ... thats a nice feature. i just wish i knew how to enable wifi but disconnect from the cellular network, airplane mode shuts down everything.
My cell phone is also my business phone so I have to answer it sometimes but I still hate talking on the phone. Most of my clients know to text me if they want a quick response. Most of the time I'm not available to answer when they call and I hate checking my voicemail. I think between my husband and I we only used 28 minutes last month combined on our cell phones. That's how much we hate talking on the phone. I'd much rather text.
I cant do that texting shit. some people write you a book on that thing. come on really, my reply will be an auto text. I dont even use the keypad, mostly I have those words I used most the top thankfully.. only a few people will I talk to long time on the phone. others I dont answer at all. my rides come thru my phone but they dont talk to me, just ask me i can or cant ride them. if I dont answer call another cab.
I have a cell but only have it on me when I am out...and then it isn't on my body, it's in a purse. I answer if I wanna talk...don't answer if I don't want to. Will call back my missed calls by importance. Texting is fine for short info type messages, but no long shit. I'm glad my friends know how I am about it so they don't get mad. They can always 911 me.
