I am in the same boat, but know much less than you. I can read and I am even starting to be able to understand german speakers in a very limited way. Any good computer programs (esp. for mac) that you could suggest?

Goldmund you should try getting a tutor over there for a few lessons, you however are extremely lucky as the best way to learn a language is to be immersed in it, which you are, if you got a few lessons aswell you'd be flying.

I often use this online-dictionary by posting in english. You can even try, watching movies or reading books, you know verry well, in their german translated version, to get a feeling for the language and best way for leaning another language ist allways still the love ;)
The learining you have to do by yourself, we here at this forum can offer our help by the clearing of special cases, like different meaning of one and the same word and grammatical problems.
And remember, the average German uses just 6.000 words for reading newspapers and watching tv,

    Coming Into Los Angeles Lyrics

    Coming in from London
    From over the pole
    Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

    CHORUS:
    Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
    Mister Customs Man

There's a guy with a ticket to Mexico
No, he couldn't look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the Lone Ranger

    CHORUS

Hip woman walking on a moving floor
    Tripping on the escalator
There's a man in the line
    And she's blowing his mind
Thinking that he's already made her

    CHORUS

    Coming in from London
    From over the pole
    Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

    CHORUS

Words and Music by Arlo Guthrie

Shure, oh, I forgot, I'll write in german ;)
    Sicher, alle Leute sind fantastisch.

    Ich bin ---- I'm
    Du bist ----- You're
    Er ist ---- he's
    Sie ist ---- she's
    Es ist ---- it is
    Wir sind ---- We're
    Ihr seid ----- You're
    Sie sind ---- They're

Doch, jeder Mensch ist von der Geburt her erst mal fantastisch. Ws dann jemand aus sich macht oder aus sich machen lässt, ist eine andere Geschichte. Hör Dir mal wieder Pink Floyd - The Wall an, da geht es genau darum, wie das Fantastische in jedem Menschen unterdrückt wird.

    ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL

When we grew up and went to school there were certain teachers who would hurt the children in any way they could. By pouring their derision upon anything we did and exposing every weakness. However carefully hidden by the kids, but in the town, it was well known, when they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives thrash them within inches of their lives.

    Daddy’s flown across the ocean
    Leaving just a memory
A snapshot in the family album
Daddy, what else did you leave for me
Daddy, what d’ya leave behind for me
All in all it was just a brick in the wall
All in all was all just bricks in the wall

I don’t need no arms around me
I don’t need no drugs to calm me
I have seen the writing on the wall
Don’t think I need anything at all
    Anything at all
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall

    We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
    Teacher leave them kids alone
Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall

    We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
    Teacher leave us kids alone
Hey, teacher, leave us kids alone
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall
