Ya know, it's funny, ever since I moved to Austin I don't think I've met anyone interested in much else than making themselves seem cool. I know it's the crowd I fell into, and I've been trying to make a switch, I just haven't gone to the right places to meet people I guess. Being surrounded by such image conscience and quick to judge people is really starting to drain me. I refuse to lose myself in this situation so I'm coming back to you guys for advice. I need some ideas of where to meet people that are laid back and chill and won't judge, etc, etc, etc. I love Austin, but if I'm going to feel truely at home here I have to make an adjustment Thank you so much guys!! Anything will help!!

I just joined this site yesterday. I love Austin, it's changing, lots of yuppies moving in to buy condos but there's some good fam there. I'm currently 20 mins north recuperating from a leg injury i got in wyoming that i never allowed it to heal while drifting around. If anyone is going to be in Austin I'll let you in on something; Go to Ruta Maya off of S. Congress. Go on a Tuesday(open mic night) and go to the back porch. If not there, go around the side to the fountain. They hold rainbow benefits and stuff at ruta. I helped start a gardening group in Austin . They need volunteers badly and have already got over 10 gardens producing. Good fam involved. myspace.com/austinsustainability I'm doing what i can from here but can't really help with any on-site stuff.
