While we were sleeping the other night. Pulled the screen off the window and broke it...assholes.
Same thing with a few neighbours as well.

I guess it's time to get a dog.

Hope they catch the assholes before someone gets hurt.

Yeah, we have talked about cameras before.

That's what scared me most, Aeri, the fact that they knew we were home. My oldest sleeps on the ground floor, but his window wasn't messed with. Hopefully they've moved on, it's that time of year when the students have gone home and the thieves come out to play.

I had wanted to wait until my daughter was older, but I need something that barks when people approach my house.

It will probably be a lab.

I have a lab/german shepherd mix which is great because she's a very gentle family dog but the protectiveness of the German Shepherd comes out around strangers.

That is terrifying. I am so glad that you are all ok. Makes you wonder what is wrong with people that simply stealing is not enough, instead they have to enter a home when it is occupied.

You might also want to consider a border collie. They are fantastic with kids and protective but gentle. Hard to beat a lab though as far as temperament. :)

If people are going to break in when you're home---they are going to do MUCH MORE once they get in. Get an old pump shot gun. You don't need to use it or even buy shells for it. EVERYONE and anyone responds to the sound of a pump shotgun being cranked!

you might want to get locks on the windows and a dead bolt on your outside doors. a steel door is even better.

a motion detection light might help to scare thieves away

you should probably report the event to the police if you haven't already.

good idea to have a charged cell phone by a night table if you don't already.

if someone breaks into your home, the main thing is to keep your family members safe and away from the intruder

you can also do stuff like mark valuables with a UV pen

thanks captain obvious....we actually have locks on windows in Canada....its is a law when children live in the home......

and I am guessing that a bright young mom and dad with children already thought of the whole lock on the door idea

its like you are inferring she is a moron and lives with children in an unlocked home?

do you ever read your own posts before clicking ''submit''?

Oh shit! I must not have read Canada's building code laws before posting! Shame!

I said a deadbolt, shithead. It's not the same as any lock. Do you even read my posts?

Do you really need to stalk all of my posts looking for something to criticize?

Why don't you go post on the SL chat thread about what color you're going to paint your chicken coop, then hold your breathe until someone gives a fuck.

i liked your post, but then i started to wonder:

what happens when the guy breaking in has a gun too?...only his has bullets?

i'm not a gun expert or enthusiast, but i've heard before that you should never point a gun at someone unless you are willing to pull the trigger.
