I can't imagine treating my hair as if it were the key to the meaning of life.

Just because I backcombed my hair afew times doesn't make my dreads not neglect dreads. It's in the past now, and my sections have years and years to mature.
Also, I don't care what op does with his hair. It was just my opinion and i'm allowed to have it. He can do whatever he wants obviously and hes going to do whatever he wants.

That's like saying 'just because I dyed my hair a few times doesn't mean it's not my natural color' ...

well, backcombed dreads are defined as those that were started by backcombing. so even though youve let nature take over, they are still backcombed dreads and not neglect as neglect would just be leaving your hair to knot itself. if you continued to backcomb throughout the life of your dreads i dont think theyd ever mature.? not sure

LOL How are backcombed dreads not natural. how would they be considered vain? It's not like backcombed dreads are instant dreads. It takes a long time. You just kick start the process that way.

You've got me there I clearly didn't understand the entire concept. I didn't realise that because someone begins backcombing their hair because they were uninformed and then stopped and began neglecting their hair that their dreads would forever be considered backcombed.
