I just took a trip to athens with some friends last thursday. Its about a 30-45 minute drive from my house. I havn't done alot there but they've got some great shops open in the day.
I live about 45 min from Athens. It's definitely a college campus kinda town. A bunch of drunken UGA fans running wild every weekend, destroying the campus with trash and other crap. It's crazy during football season, but during summer it's very nice and calm.
