And that rough total of 80 million was just from the 2 biggest names I was aware of. I'd still bet anyday that those killed at the hands of atheist governments/groups greatly outnumber those killed at the hands of religious governments/groups.




The one thing you are right about is that it's a rather blunt argument, but it's still something to be considered.

i thought it was all kind of amusing, a great take on the lame blaming of religion for the world's ills. i hate when people say how religion kills people when really it's just an excuse. any excuse will do if you want to win bad enough. whether it's property, government, resources, control over people and women especially, well, religion is just handy. a completely lack of any religion is equally as handy.

I guess I'm agnostic. I usually call myself an atheist but I'm too disinterested in arguing for the non-existence of God for that to be the case.

God and unicorns for me are interchangeable.

well, if we're just throwing out random, baseless accusations, the mafia always sounds like a good one to me, most people like to happily march along blaming religion while disregarding all the other factors that come into a conflict and/or behavior. the same sort of factors they'd be the first to point out when someone just as baselessly blames atheism.

but the latter has certainly INSPIRED a good many more then the former.

that is also one possibility. the littlest grandmother gets awfully tired kind of easily though.

getting killed (even without dying in any perminent sense) is rather disconcerting and more then a little annoying. it is generally considered somewhat rude and uncultured to cause this to happen.

I know it is annoying.. Best way to avoid death is to ignore it or cherish it.. Ive grown old and tied.. of dying...... We need to live together forever... then why suffer death at all... The Almighty knows the illusion... The blind just havent seen it yet.
