I wonder what value "red herring" type profiles might have. Essentially commissioning personae and create daily lives to update with all manner of tomfoolery just to keep 'em busy chasing rainbozos and paper tigers.

I have a facebook page but have little friends:<edit>, and i agree with lunarverse, I and millions of others who use the internet, have certain accounts etc, we can be "tracked" or "watched", looked up, etc.

    pot calling kettle black.

you started talking to me about your toilet habits. i chose not to, because i realise that information posted on the internet is only as available as the user allows it to be.

that's not a fair thing to say. you addressed me - and you are trying to convince a large group of people of some sweeping truths, that for better or worse, are probably right

however, i retain the right to push the boundaries of the topic - it's relevant. and again, may i add, you addressed me. in fact, thereafter you started a whole new thread about 'people who say they have nothing to hide' - i'm the guy who said that only a small amount of time before you started that thread.

may i add, again, you pressed me. not the other way around. so i do have to ask - who is arguing with who?

i ask, and i stand by it, that if facebook is so wrong - why isn't hipforums? your posts will remain, and better still - people are selective with what they say on facebook. there's little animosity

here though, everybody can be traced - but because person x doesn't know person y it means we all think it is fine to talk about drugs, pedophilia, dog fucking and conspiracy against the government.

i hope your heart is okay, and if you do not want to respond - fine. but i can't help that believe that people, not you, people, like to 'piss on the facebook parade' because it is a popular medium of use - and not because it is much worse than anything else on this very public entity that is the internet.

i don't doubt its convictions, but just limit what you make available. i don't care, honestly, if someone from the government sees a picture of me eating a sandwich.

by limiting information, isn't that the epitome of your free will also? no one is obliging you to post overly sensitive material... yet. when that happens let us reconsider it as a social platform.

anyways - due to the lack of social cue here, i once again, must deflate somebody else's faux perception of a discussion! but i will take the bait, and politely be quiet with for you nothing but well wishes.

Perhaps the site owner can correct me if I'm wrong but I'll speculate that unlike Facebook,

    1) Hipforums does not provide a backdoor interface to various governement agencies to access data on whomever they choose.

    2) Hipforums does not ask sensitive information while at the same time instating a system that provides greater functionality to the site but only if end user offers up more information about themself. (ie: Don't fill out facebook's profil and you won't make many friends)

    3) Hipforums does not store user data for future use.

I've handled a couple of cases against Facebook. (Nothing major) From what I've been able to deduce, the bulk of their revenus does not come from advertising. It comes from government contracts. Being forced to admit that I don't know what the nature is in any of those contracts. But I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to be able to figure out what they probably involve.

I've got grand kids and I'm waiting to see if I'm going to be a great grandfather soon. I've seen my share of parades, fads, lies and unexplained phenomenons. It takes a lot for me to angry and even more to get me pointing an accusatory finger at someone or something.

    In having said that,
I'll let people smoke pot in my home and would even let them do LSD if they had it. But I've taught all my friends and family about the evil of Facebook. Moreso, when I find out that someone has a Facebook account; I tend to keep them outside of my personal space.

Damn him to hell. I would share a beer with Nixon and McCarthy before I would spit on that punk Zukerburg.

  9. Jusy deleted my Facebook account with a great deal of difficulty by the way. Used the Wikileaks link referred to on page 3 of this thread, thanks for that because I didn't know that if the account is only de-activated they still have all your info. Anyway 3 times I was informed that my password didn't correspond with my E-mail address, so I "changed " my password (to the same thing by the way) and finally was successful after a fashion. My account will be deleted, but not for 14 days, giving me time to change my mind if I want, or is it giving somone time to trawl my info. Anyway it's done!

No to get off subject, but I've always made a point to completely stay away from facebook. Easy to do...for myself.

However I recently discovered that I was in photos on two different people's pages, this pissed me off to no end. Upon asking them to take them down they both said no because other friends/family members were in the photos.

I make a point to stay away from myspace, facebook, cellphones, etc.

Now I have to stay out of the pictures of friends and family? It can be hard to be someone who deliberately stays away from these things when others (society) are so submerged in them.

This is exactly one of the must "un-talked about" problems with Facebook.

Facebook doesn't need to get everyone in the United States to sign up for an account. They just need to get a large enough cross section of the populace that they can extrapolate data information by proxy about almost anyone.

I really hate being an alarmist or engaging in fear mongering. But where there is no privacy there is no possibilty of freedom. If you love freedom, then you need to start taking your privacy very seriously. And everyone needs to be very careful around people that have Facebook account.

I personally treat anyone that admits to having a Facebook account as if they were the notorious neighborhood gossip.

I knew about it but didn't realize how serious it was until I was advised by a lawyer (as a victim, I might add) that I should delete anything I have on Facebook or MySpace, as, if there were any incriminating pictures or references, insurance companies can gather that information to use against people.

When I had a Facebook page, I would send messages to MANY of my friends asking them if they knew their cell phone numbers were posted in plain view on Facebook. Most of them didn't know that information was even being posted by Facebook and many didn't know how to get rid of that sort of information. I did my best to inform them of Facebook's privacy exploits, but a few either didn't know how to set their privacy options and sadly, a few of them could actually care less.

A word of advice... Input as little information as possible when working online. Even if it isn't shown publicly, certain people can still access it if it's there. (Hackers, Insurance Companies, Government Subsidies)

And for the record... F@(% Spacebook!

Beurocracy, not the CIA runs America. In spite even of black box government agencies. Even in them there is beurocracy. It was not America which brought down the USSR but USSR beurocracy. This should give people hope.

Nobody is smart enough to be both good at field ops and at the reductive thinking necessary to pinpoint true enemies of state. There's always a difference between expressing opinions about revolutions and starting them. Facebook remains in the field of theoretical ratiocination, and has yet to become as one with the world. As always the adage, does life imitate art or art imitate life, comes to my mind on this subject.

The real humor is that nobody is controlling shit! Those who yesterday financed the Shulgins, today are battling their lives against a free flow of phenethylamines and tryptamines, all of which are inherent in the human condition, thus who in fact are they fighting?

before any battle could be won, one must pinpoint the real enemy, and how can that be intelligenced out of the populations when the people pinpointing things are themselves the real enemy? In the exact same way, who can fight warez, cracking, and hacking, when the same people who produce all the software, hardware, are the same hacks who crack, and warez it?

Haha, the huge irony is that the people, not the government, the people in the government, are the enemies, those who think they have found an enemy, somewhere in the vastness of this universe. One can ask, have they not merely pricked upon a snag in their minds?

Have you ever fed someone you feared only to have them become your friend? I have. The only enemy is in the mind. The only spy network is in the mind, and the only police are in the mind. On the other hand, there are organizations with stricutres with people who think those strictures are things - things with actual shapes and textures which can be promoted. Those people, in their fraternities, will ram their heads against the fences which they themselves have built, locking their horns and becoming stuck.

Tomorrow destroys the shadows which we thought were real today.

Facebook is just another shadow of a larger body called the internet, which was the first spying tool. To spy through the internet was an integral facet of its constitution at inception. How do I know? Because I am not the smartest person, and in the government the snartest persons do in fact reside. they are cultivated and given all the means needed to produce every imaginable weapon. Also, at as little risk to the inception of this nation as possible. Or by allowing those not of the government to do the work for them.

It will always be the same. I used to care about the goverment spying on me. I used to think I mattered. but I have changed my tenor of thought. I do not matter. None of us matter. This government is fighting an extremely religious world war to end all wars now and the thoughts of the populace are no longer of importance. No revolution can be had at home while the people's children are engaged abroad. Moreover, no revolution can be staged while economically we depend upon the resources that we rape, pillage and steal from our 'enemies.'

Haha, we have not travelled even a mile beyond the Dark Ages. We have only become more sophisticated. That is the only reality of our government, and of all governments. There is no liberal or enlightened government. There are no liberal, enlightened people.

What there are of liberal, enlightened people are a few iconic individuals of less substantiality and boundaries than others. But step upon their sacred cows and durva grass and watch the fuck right out! :afro:

if facebook is a spy tool it can also be manipulated in order to lead the spies on wrong ways. same thing for a cell phone, if i were some kind of terrorist or gangster i'd leave that at home or give it to a sidekick to drag it away from my real location in order to deceive tracing. the weak point is the user, not the tool, it is self evident that facebook, cell phones, social networks and secret ops dont mix quite well together so if you have secrets either you dismiss all your technology or use it to trick the surveillance.

Totò Riina, the ex kingpin of Cosa Nostra, lived alone in a farm without internet, wired or mobile telephone, no radio, no tv, nothing. He never ever txt'ed anyone. His messages traveled slowly from hand to hand written over scraps of paper . But he made a mistake:he kept them in an archive instead of burning all evidences of his actions.

    dog fucking...

For the record on this thread; Freedom is internal.

I agree though, fecebutt is sewage, and it is a shame that I feel compelled to keep it up so that if I am organizing an event I can spread the word rapidly to my "friends."

I'm a procrastinator, I will delete it later though.

I just saw a guy posting last night about his upcoming colonoscopy... going into the details. As if the "man" wasn't already up your ass enough.

Well looks like congress DOESN'T need to pass the Real ID Act after all.
Why does the government need to issue National RFID cards to their citizens when they have people willingly submitting all their personal information on Facebook?
