Doesn't matter. Facebook stores everything in their database. You can't delete your account once you've made it. You can deactivate it but all you have to do to restore your information is log back in. Any information that you've ever entered into facebook will always be there and will be accessible to certain parties.

You can delete it. Deactivating it is different.

Convenient way for health information to be tracked... encourage people to divulge and help Uncle Sam create medical profiles on them... the insolvent US is getting itself into the health care biz... and it needs to know which drug to deny coverage for.

Yes, for some reason the US gov't is desperate to get its hands on our medical info.

I noticed in the Wikileaks cables that the US is always interested in personal intel, like a person's likes and weaknesses, and even medication they're on.

When such info does appear in Wikileaks, it's usually offered to allow the US gov't to manipulate that person in some way.

Here's how they could use it. Let's say they're tracking Bin Laden and know he is taking renal drugs for his kidney problem. Then they get a tip as to the area he is in. Then they go thru local pharmacy records to see who is ordering renal drugs. Then they eliminate the rest until they find that courier bringing the drug to Bin Laden.

So that might be a legitimate reason for wanting to know a person's medical history. But why keep a database on everyone who is innocent?

There are other reasons why medical records should be standardized and computerized, but not to give it to the gov't so it can know even more about us...

Because most people are only innocent for a matter of time. Everyone breaks the law at some point in their life.

And that's one reason why cannabis is still illegal. Because it enables the gov't to track those of the liberal persuasion when they get busted.

If they could they would make sure everyone did something illegal so they'd have more info, including fingerprints to track everyone.

Another possible reason to compile medical profile is DEA surveillance... presuming that specific prescriptions tend to correlate with specific illegal drug use and identifying which people will lead them to bigger quarry in the war on freedom or drugs (can't remember which).

There seems to be a wealth of possibilities for surveillance options in utilizing data gathered... a bit parallel to supermarkets sharing dietary data gathered from scan cards and sharing that with HMOs.

Oh, yeah, did you know they've already used supermarket purchases to track down criminals?

Supermarkets keep a database of everything you buy and are more than willing to share that info with LEOs. That's the whole point of the "club card".

It's great for profiling people based upon what they buy and eat.

I have read somewhere before that when people are convicted over the internet, they usually try to argue in their defense about security issues. But then the prosecutors will say "on the internet there is not a gaurantee of complete ptivacy for anyone." Yeah, remember all those terms and agreements you skipped through for that new program or add-on? Bingo.

Well guess what? Facebook was just hit with a class action lawsuit for using the names and images of minors in advertising without their parent's consent.

It seems if a child "likes" a facebook page their name and image appears on that page as having "liked" it.

I hope facebook loses big time cause they are invading everyone's privacy with their website and doing more harm than anyone realizes (yet!)

A.K.A Without their parents receiving some sort of paycheck for having their child's mug on some page.

I'm sure the parents will be paid and this will go away within days.

  17. I do have a face book account because it's the only way I can attract my children's attention! Not that I want to very often but sometimes it's important that I speak with them! ;) It does worry me how much personal info some people are quite prepared to share. My contribution is usually limited to "do you never read your fucking E-mail?" and "are you free for messenger this Sunday?"

It's okay. The American people are okay with things like this going on right in front of them. Its like some kind of weird political public dominance the CIA needs to show, flexing its muscles so to speak.

They are aware that if a said 'Revolution' was to occur, it would likely be over the internet. Face book is quite convenient in the methods you can use to contact people, stay in touch with them and organize. Its too easy...that's why I never joined anything like that.

The fact that people can be aware that its funded by the CIA and still keep on with it disgusts me. The passive disconnection with our rights due to security purposes needs to stop. I'm tired of it. Think about how USEFUL face book would be if it wasn't in their hands.
