Have been coming to Japan for 20 years. Living here for last 5 just outside Tokyo. Not an expert but love to talk about the country I have adopted, or has adopted me, and love.
SO many to choose from. I guess at the moment it is yakinikku. Grilled meats. Kinda like BBQ. Dip it in a delicious sauce and yum time. Different meats are usually grilled along with all kinds of vegetables. Whatever you like. Of course, sushi and my staple go to food is miso ramen. How about you?
Mmm yum. I don't think I've had too much Japanese food at all really but I do adore Chinese food and Thai, Korea etc so there probably is something I like. How is the weather over there? I know it gets cold but in comparison what's it like?
I'm sure you will find lots to enjoy. I like Thai and Chinese as well. Have only had Korean BBQ which is pretty much yakinikku and very good. Around Tokyo the winters are fairly mild. It gets in the low teens a little but this year only 2 snows that I remember. The summers are steaming. Like Thailand, people carry around handkerchiefs and wet wipes to cool off. It can become brutal due to the humidity. This summer I plan a break to Okinawa. I've heard its pretty nice right about the time Tokyo is a sauna.
Great to have someone among us from another part of the world, Hopefully you will enjoy reading and joining in on some our threads.
Underlying theme is anti nuclear testing my friends tell me. Gojira was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Different from West Coast US thats for sure. Japanese tell me it's the water. I dunno. My fave is the fresh yellowtail when it's in season. If you find the right restaurants on the coast you can eat the morning's catch. What's your favorite?
Until you get to know us regular members who discuss everything from music to atomic physics, you may encounter a few idiots who thrive on insults and confrontation. Just ignore them, they go away after a few days. LOL. This music from one of my favorite composers always reminds me of Tokyo. So full of hope, but ultimately such a sad outcome.
See, most tuna I find delicious. But the mackerel was not working for me. Might have been a sauce or something and not the actual fish. You gotta be careful or you're liable to end up some Americanized thing with cream cheese or something bizarre.
