Yes we, did coke was very popular back then and while it was never lab tested, when basing became popular and we started cooking it would come back almost 100%.

 

I think the LD50 for cocaine is around 100mg/kg in lab rats.
Which, assuming it's similar for humans, would allow me to take almost 6g, so I guess it's possible. Such a waste of time/money/cocaine/nasal tissue/general health though.
