Paul was quite the theologian wasn't he, and he can sure turn a poetic phrase. I have admired him. You don't have to fight to stand fast with God. Let the mind be in you that is in Christ. Only your own thoughts can harm you.
So, what does that have to do with marriage.
You don't know squat. What is near?

    Just about everything.

Some would say that we're in the greatest economic disasters in human history. All the other signs, one would be the great oil spill and other environmental disasters that aren't commonly reported.

Everything is always near, so nothing in particular.

What I'm asking is what constitutes near. Is it a day, is it a year, ten years, a thousand years. What if I said to you, no one knows the hour because it is not a matter of time. Love does not wait on time but invitation.

I think it just means close by, around the corner. Perhaps that's why Jesus compared it to a passing season, one season next to another. It's a slow process but we can still know that it is in proximity. I don't think it's a thousand years, or even a hundred, but much sooner.

So you believe it was Jesus' own thoughts that tempted him? Yeah right.
Seeing as it is the Scripture right before the one you cited and forms the context for the scripture you cited, I can easy see why you would think it would have nothing to do with the subject at hand.
    Well let's see you said:
So my guess would be the hour.

So you are convinced it is a matter of time?

Interesting, you say you know and love God but you don't even know his name. Isn't that a little like saying that you know and love your wife but you never bothered to learn her name.

Hi. Everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment. Everyone who has looked at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. This is the conduct of the mind. Only your own thoughts can hurt you.

Jesus dies and goes up to Heaven. The first thing he does is look for his father, as he has never met the man before and is curious as to what he looks like, and whether or not Jesus looks like his mother or father, etc. He looks high and low but cannot find him.
He asks St. Peter "Where is my father?" But St. Peter says he doesn't know.
He asks the archangel Gabriel "Where is my father?" But Gabriel doesn't know.
He asks John the Baptist "Where is my father?" But John does not know. So he wanders Heaven, impatiently searching.
Suddenly he sees out of the mist an old man coming toward him. The man is very old, with white hair, stooped over a little. "Stop!" Jesus yells. "Who are you?"
"Oh, please help me, I am an old man in search of my son." Jesus is very curious. Could this be his father? "Tell me of your son, old man."
"Oh, you would know him if you saw him. Holes in his hand where the nails used to be, he was nailed to a cross, you know..."
    "Father!!!!!" Screams Jesus.
    "Pinocchio!!!!!!!" yells the old man.

What does that look like, I mean how do you engage your mind? What constitutes waiting?

I am not sure what you are asking me. What does it look like? I don't understand :(

What constitutes waiting? Waiting for the inevitable to happen. We know that putting a pot of water on the stove is going to cause the water to boil and we just wait to see it occur. We may not want it to happen and we may throw ice into the pot but it's still going to boil.

The system of things is the fire, the world is the boiling water, and the ice being thrown in are those fighting back what will happen.

    ...maybe a silly analogy.

There is a specific activity we are to undertake. Watchfulness. There is a reason this is so and it has to do with seeking. We find what we look for. The moment you look for, or watch for the coming of the kingdom of God, it begins to draw neigh.
Do you know what I mean, "love waits for invitation"?

The analogy seems fine. What is the source of this information you are offering?

I don't know what you mean by that, can you explain it?

Are you saying that God's kingdom arrives when we believe it has arrived in a personal level? If so, I don't agree. A christian can find inner peace but that the peace of the world can still not arrive.

I cook a lot so I was looking for a way to describe what Jesus says will happen in another way and that came to me.
