Chris Green was hit in the head by a piece of the statue and is going through rehabilitation from a serious head injury. Pulling down statues like this, and not having them go through the debate and process is a felony. You don’t like a building or structure, is it ok to just blow it up, destroy it?

Martin Luther King, Jr., was arrested 29 times during the civil rights movement.

It’s a badge of honor and they should be proud of themselves,

They will be well represented in court, and if you think any of them will do any real hard time you’re delusional.

Now run along like a good little girl, and play with your Trump doll.

To destroy all sense of national pride in this country. They needed to find a way to erase historic monuments to the pioneers of the American way of life and western democracy. Tearing down confederate statues was only the beginning of a very slippery slope. Now they’re tearing down statues of any western hero. This was all planned by design.

Once again you’re simply being paranoid.

I served in the armed forces to protect this democracy. I consider myself a patriot, and yet I fully support the dismantling of racist confederate monuments.

Most Americans believe the majority of the statues were erected just after reconstruction, when in fact many were erected during the height of the civil rights movement as a way to stick it to the African American community. These statues need to be toppled along with other symbols of hate which have divided this nation for too long.

We’re not out to destroy national pride in this country, were reinterpreting what national pride is all about - inclusion for all, not for just a select few.

No, it’s not right to destroy these monuments, and yes, there is a process to contest and have these monuments removed, but how affective is the process - a process purposefully riddled with bureaucracy and red tape?
Because of this, people have no faith in the system and are convinced that their concerns will never be heard or addressed. They are taking actions into their own hands which is effective!

well, the statues are there... it is a piece of history. This is how I see it personally.
We have statues that are for all to see. Does this statue really bother you? It is a piece of the past. Beside that statue a plaque could be added that tells the history of the individual. An open air museum that is not something people have to pay to in order to see or gain knowledge on.

Susan b. Anthony the other day was pardoned by trump. She was a very significant women and fighter for equal rights. Now the left is criticizing her as being a racist and anti abortionist. Will her statue be next? Will silver dollars remove her image? wipe her out of history?

Kingston ontario has statues through it... people want these statues removed, although I don’t know why... the mayor said, this city has a very old history, no statues will be removed and the city itself i# an open air museum. Kids in school take field trips and walk the city, learn through conversation, history and visually seeing these statues.

Yes the statues are there, in a place of honor, to commemorate traitors and defenders of slavery. They were put up after the Civil War to accommodate the losers. Surely, we're the only country in the world to do that.

But I'm opposed to mobs simply tearing things down they don't like, and settling disputes by force. The faces of every President on Mount Rushmore could be challenged: Washington and Jefferson as slaveowners, Lincoln for his stance on Native American issues, and Teddy Roosevelt for his awful positions on Hispanics and Italians. Before we go blowing them up, I think we need to put it to a vote or some judicial process.

“Does the statues really bother ME?” No, I could care less if they stay or go. Apparently some people are truly disturbed by them, that’s why all this is going on. Keeping them for the sake of preserving history? This has nothing to do with history, it’s become political. You can still have history without the statues- that will never go away. The history of this country leaves out a lot of ugly truths- they need to go fix those books!

Oh course I care for my own people, do you? . Does calling me a dog hurt me? No! Just words. Seems to me many people on this forum call me a ton of things. Do I give a shit? not really, it is expected as well. It is a tactic used by far left extremists who in my view are in fact anti racist, which is racist.

Anti racist - to treat people differently based on ethnicity, religion or skin colour,

    Buzz phrases.
    Silence is violence
    Your words are violence.

    - so silence is violence and words are violence, Got it. And if you speak and oppose someone on any matter this is not permitted, So I am to shut up, got it... oh but silence is violence, Eeerrrrm ok?

    Rest in power.
    not Rest In Peace.

Moral compass is a good one, Lol. My moral compass. I have heard that one so many times. Moral compass is to simply say I am the good one ... on the right side of history, but I don’t agree with you on everything, so there fore I belong on the Other side, the bad side, I have no moral compass. Whatever.

It is about power. A collective power Achieved through intimidation.. I am not into collective thought, never have been. I am an individual, who has people in my life with different thoughts and opinions. It is ok.

are you saying calling me a dog is violence? Maybe you think it is because you want to beat me. Call me a bitch if you want. Oh no, this hurt me, a female dog I have been called. Yeah, whatever. Are you going to tell me I am betraying my race?

I have been called a wagon burner too.... and many other things, Do I care? Nope, am an individual. Not perfect and neither are you.

@Eric! , another thing, how about Martin Luther King Jr. statues of him, is he next? He was a Mysoginist you know? Also a philanthropist, is he the next one to come down?

I think a plaque with an honest history of the man himself. For students to explore the city and hear honestly about what he did and the history behind it. The good, the bad and the ugly. What side of politics he is on included in that, Sometimes I think it is just a way for people to virtue signal. To point a finger at what is bad, and I am the good one for tearing it down.

There are many statues in Toronto, especially on university. I pretty much pay no attention to them but know who they are, and it looks kind of cool visually down the middle of the street. I can’t see a statue really bothering me. I do admit though, I was not sad that pierre Trudeau’s statue was vandalized, just spray painted.. Lol. But I also didn’t pay attention to it, even though the man was not good for this country. I would love a history plaque beside it which states all the horrible things he did. So that the books he published himself can be publicly ripped apart For all to read, free of charge. I don’t want him housed in a museum as if he is a treasure. Let birds shit on him. Lol

I hope not, but many SJWs might want it down seeing as he was a Misogynist. Susan b. Anthony a racist... which I am really not sure of. She voted back in the 1800s when she was not allowed to... the battle was long and hard. Choose your battles, one step at a time.

agree, he should not be taken down. If any sjw tries to take it down, disparage the man, I will fly down and prevent it, even if he was a mysogenist. Different time, different era. It is ok. Battles are not quickly won. Neither should Susan b. Anthony be criticized.

people aren’t perfect. They don’t do everything right.

I am glad he was a Misogynist man. :)

Tearing them down in the middle of the night during a riot with not a care about the other idiots standing near you isn't dismantling. Idiot.

    I e .
Somehow tearing this statue down is going to put an end to racism?
And it isn’t just statues.... so much more destruction.

I do not approve of the Marxist communist authoritarian left wing party, that has become mainstream.

People of the past should not be held to the standards of today. Standards that exist today didn’t exist back then.

Considering the litany of charges including driving 30 mph in a 25 mph zone it wouldn’t surprise me if destruction of public property wasn’t included, and your point?

Again it’s them...the mythical leftists. By your way of thinking women should be OK with a statue of Epstein in Times Square.
