Be that as it may, it doesn't make him a fascist. Arnold is a libertarian with a small l...not to be confused with the Libertarian Party which is comprised almost entirely of extremists. There's no reason that libertarianism can't be a "big tent" ideology. He's much more libertarian than authoritarian, so just because he doesn't tow the LP party line on every issue doesn't make him a fascist. His support for deregulation in industry. His support for lower taxes and lower government spending. His support for abortion rights and civil unions. His support for the decriminalization of marijuana. His refusal to govern the state of California with any religion in mind. Warren Buffett is a Democrat. If he supports Arnold (I don't know if that's true), it's because Arnold is a moderate libertarian...not a "socialistic neocon." Regardless of what you imagine the agenda of those pushing the constitutional amendment is, it does not change the fact that racism is still written into the constitution and should be removed.
Not 'my' America you pompous piece of shit. OUR America. The America that hundreds flock to every day. Every day we get new people, and none of them seem to have a problem w/ not being able to be president. And I doubt I'd hear them laughing. It's logical. If I can't be prime minister of France or Israel, and I can't join the election in Iraq then why the fuck should some 2bit actor or other person be able to just show up on the doorstep of this country and hop in the drivers seat, it doesn't work that way anywhere else. I never once said too many. I said we've taken in more than we can logically justify. That includes MY parents and grandparents, and myself. Again, not MY rules, but the rules that have been in place and followed for well over one hundred years. They are AMERICAS rules. When you go to somebody's house, do you complain about the rule structure? I thought not. Oppress everyone different from me? We wouldn't be having the discussion if an Iraqi were trying to run. Arnold may be foreign, but he's still white, and that's the only reason this is being discussed. This is racist in itself. Not to mention, I'm just as discluded from the presidency as anybody since I was born in an overseas hospital. That's a dangerous statement to make. You want foreigners to be president? Fine, open up gay marriage, give felons back their constitutional rights*, take the age limitation off of the presidency, remove the legal drinking age, remove the minimum age to carry a concealed weapon, and allow all persons to distribute fire arms and alchohol freely. That's just a handful of things that would have to happen for "Every adult American citizen should have equal rights. Period." *And if you planned on saying "Felons lost those rights by committing crimes" then I will tell you now "Foreigners lost their right to be a leader by moving to America". And just like a Felons son can vote and bear arms a foreigners son can run for the presidency. Don't be a self righteous, faggot ass, little bitch and twist my words around to help you feel discriminated against you fucking homo. Judging by your name, I'd venture to guess you're foreign in which case I say stop being selfish. You want to come here and build a better life for you and your children, fine but do it the same way the rest of us had to upon getting here. Foreign born citizens being denied the presidency does not keep any race out of the white house, and I personally see no problem with it.
I do not support Arnold, but I do support an Amendment change. Obviously, very, very few Americans make good presidents. I don't see why we have to stick with the rascist rules that the founding fathers made (do not forget that the same forefathers were for slavery and owned slaves). But if you haven't noticed, California's economy is much better than it was two years ago, and stem-cell research has been legalized in the state of California.
You guys need to find a better word than racist, because no race is being denied the chance to be president.
Yes there is, anyone who wasn't born in the holier-than-thou country, America. Hmm better word.... Americanism? You still seem to ignore the fact the Cali's economy is up and Arnold has been doing great things for the state.
Arnold couldn't be any worse than the guy we have now.....but I do have a problem with changing the constitution with one person in mind.
You're even more ignorant than I thought. What you described is not an entire race being told they can't run. It's individuals who were born elsewhere;therefore every race in this country, so long as they were born here, is eligible. That seems fair enough for me. I can't run, but my children will have the opportunity. I don't ignore the fact that he has done well for the economy, but so did Clinton. I'm not for stem cell research at all, so that holds no water with me. YOU seem to ignore the fact that this is supposed to be about all foreign born citizens, not just ONE WHITE MAN BORN OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY.
No one is saying they should be able to "show up on the doorstep of this country and hop in the driver's seat." Naturalization is a long, difficult process. Anyone who takes the trouble to become an American citizen is probably more socially conscious than most natural-born citizens. And the policies of other countries toward foreigners should not guide America's policy toward naturalized citizens. First of all, I'm not sure that it's true that you couldn't be Prime Minister of France if you were a naturalized French citizen...I don't see anything in their constitution preventing it. I don't know about the Israeli or Iraqi governments. If you move into a new house, do you have the right to fix a leak without the previous owner's permission? I thought so. Yes we would. Any adult American citizen should have the right to run, regardless of his country of origin. I don't give a shit about Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'm not even sure I'd vote for him if he did run...I guess it would depend on who he ran against. But that doesn't change the fact that the constitution still discriminates amongst its citizens. By the way, if you were born in an overseas hospital and at least one of your parents was an American citizen prior to your birth, then you're a natural-born citizen and can run for president. There's that racism rearing its ugly head again... No, I don't want "foreigners" to be president. I want Americans to have the right to run for president, regardless of their place of birth. Yep Lower it to 18, anyway... Lower it to 18, anyway... That's not really a civil rights issue. While it may or may not be a good idea, you can maintain equal rights if the same restrictions on those things apply to everyone. Foreigners didn't kill anyone moving to America and going through the naturalization process. And I think that ends the debate. Better luck next time, son.
I wasn't basing our policies on those of other nations. I was basing our policies on our policies, and comparing the attitude and expectations of "naturlized citzens" to Americans in the exact same shoes under the policies of other nations. No, if you BUY a house you ave the right to fix a leak. If you rent, then you're not allowed to make any sort of change w/o owner consent whether written into the lease originally(constitution) or given later(Amendment), or you have to have the owner fix it(which is his legal responsibility). Nice try. Look there's sexism rearing it's ugly head, you left out females I was unaware of that, and will now start working on my campaign for the 2020 elections. I apologize for my lazyness, I was tired of typing "foreign born citizens" You're right, that example was not valid any more than your "house" example. Not all felons did either, but we still can't bear arms or even VOTE for president, let alone be president. Yes, I guess it does because you are incapable of reading words for what they are; instead you immaturely paraphrase trying to lessen the image of another person. What I said wasn't right at all, but aside from my fowl language, it was no more out of place than your attempt to label me racist. Better luck next time? I don't need it, so far my side of the argument is the one holding up in 'court', not yours.
Then I guess we have a fundamental disagreement. Once a foreigner goes through the trouble of naturalization and becomes an American citizen after years of work, I think he's just as American as anyone born here. He's no longer "renting" his house...it's HIS house just as much as it is yours. Well I think most of those restrictions on felons (especially nonviolent ones) should be lifted after they've served their time...but that's a separate debate, as they WERE denied their rights through due process.
I think it is total bullshit that you have to be born here to run for president. I also think he has done a pretty good job as governor and there is no reason he shouldn't be our president. SNL would have tons of fun with him, plus he is a good politician. It would be an unfair election though. He would win because of his fans. About the Hitler thing, I admire some things about Hitler. First off... he had great control over his country and every country that sided with him. He was a fuckin' strategist genius. He actually tried to make this world a better place and got pretty damn close to it (at least in his mind). Granted he was not only racist, anti-semite, and just about every other prejudice along with a little crazy to go with it he was a good man.
He's not an Austrian bodybuilder. He's the governor of California. What the hell's it matter what people do in the past? George W dodged the war in Vietnam and went on a drug binge, nobody's whining about that nowadays. Still waiting for those links Matt.
Allowing naturalized citizens to run for president is one more step toward a one world government. Think about what you are talking about... A person lives in ______ almost all of their life, they move to the U.S.A., after 7 years of residence (or are we getting rid of that as well?) they are able to be President of The United States!?!?! Just a few more steps and our "president" could also be the head of the U.N., E.U., Arab League... Sorry, but when it comes to the presidency a "naturalized" citizen just isn't enough. What other restrictions are we getting rid of?
