The Queen of Soul is gone at age 76. She started recording at the early age of 14, was signed to Columbia in 1960 and in one year had 10 Top Ten Hits. Her career had slumped by the 1980's but was revived by her appearance in the Blues Brothers movie. The studio wanted newer acts but Dan Aykroyd and the rest of the crew insisted on Franklin.
And so the curtain comes down on another icon The Queen of Soul who taught us to 'Think', and have 'Respect', Tonight many will be, 'Saying a little prayer' for the 'Natural woman'
So she no longer has experience of the world. She is gone. Big deal. Why do I feel nothing about this.
Because you no little of what she did 'away from the music'? (Still you thought enough of her to post a comment - so that was nice)
Rest In Peace, Sister Aretha...you gave me happy music...planet earth will not be the same from now on.
There is a lot of love and respect out there in the real world... You really going by the people here? Aretha .
I did not know her music too well......but I can sure appreciate talent such as she had. She was very pretty in that photo with the Blues Bros. I need took at her song list to try to remember how I first heard of her.
