we have quite a mixed bag of ages on here so I ask are you happy where your up to in life ?
for example when I started work in the job I still do it was a dying industry that was in 1972 I have always worked since then and the job although physically taxing at times is interesting .
I have traveled all over the world doing it and seen some life (its different to being a tourist ) I have no mortgage or rent to pay and have some money in the bank (a little ) and get lots of holidays .
The thing is I have never Been ambitious Ever and have turned down Promotion many times ! although I have never refused pay increases , Should I have done things Differently ? and what do you strive for
I am really interested to hear your stories !

Honestly, no. I'm not. It's something hard to think about as I genuinely have a lot going for me but I have always quest the pursuit of different things and whereabouts. I'm not entirely sure I'll ever be satisfied with my life or anything I accomplish.

I hear you take it in as you get older, achievements etc. Well when I'm that age will I look back and be proud of my accomplishments? I hope so. As for now it's just move on to the next thing with little time to embrace.

Sometimes I want flat out greatness, other times I want nothing more than to live out my years where I am and enjoy whatever comes my way.

As for now I'll continue to drift through life in my own lane, going from A to B, with a stop off at X, Y, H, M and P.

Last night I dreamed I made it to the promised land, St. Peter stood at the gate and I had the key in my hand. He said to me to come on in girl you're finally home. I said no thank you Peter now move it along. I ain't ever satisfied.

Perhaps my only regret is not fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming a concert pianist

I dont think its about ambition.

I think in the end there are just two types of guys. Ones that have to work all the time to keep busy so they dont go crazy and the rest that try get away with as little as possible and prefer to spend extra time that would otherwise be spent doing overtime, with family, or watching tv on the couch....or becoming an alcoholic

I have ambitions to succeed in the things I do. I have dreams that will come true and I do have some that won't. Most the time I just walk the line wherever it goes but I know that I can't hang myself if I don't have enough rope. I know exactly who I'm not, and that's a career driven person in the work force. I'm the type that would rather hold a job for less money and just blow through that money every week than be the type of person who saves money in a good earning job but that job becomes something I take home with me. I'm not that person and I guess I've strived never to be that person making decisions in life and gambles that paid off to help me hopefully never be in that situation. So I guess I'm winning on that front atm.

Hobbies and interests... If I had the ability to concentrate on the one thing at a time maybe I'd succeed there too, but I'm too eratic at the moment. Maybe in a few years I'll settle a little.

    The short version:
Didnt have ambition per se but can think back to a couple promotions where basically I didnt have much competition and well here I am

i'm where i'm probably intended to be, for whatever cosmic reasons, or perhaps random chance.

i don't think there's any should or shouldn't about it.
life is about happiness. as long as it isn't at the expense of anyone else's, its all good.
(and as long as someone or some thing, your cultural environment or something else isn't robbing you of yours)

if something isn't making you happy, unless there's like someone depending on it, that's the thing you're wasting your time on.

I have fantasies about getting a book published and actually making money from it but i'm realistic, I know what my chances are there.

Other than that - the most important thing for me career wise has always been a good work/life balance which has stopped me from pursuing certain fields, i'm not interested in working 80 hour work weeks.

So i'm good. I like my job, I like owning my own home (well technically the bank owns it but one day it will be paid off). One day i'll sell and buy more acreage and have a little homestead.
I like having a child and having my family life.

I just wanna travel and see the world, thats my biggest ambition.

And one day I want to become a foster mom, thats something i've known I've wanted to do since I was 18. But that will wait until my own child is older.

  20. Eh.
    I'll be fine.

I kind of don't feel like typing a long answer.
    Maybe tomorrow.
