Are you ready for thanksgiving dinners with the family?

This Thanksgiving will be better than others for me...I'm spending it in SoCal with my best friend here on the island, his family, and the guy that I have a crush on here. The plan is: footie pajamas, naked roof jumping, and drunken-ness...

I've all but disowned my family and holidays at the old family's is all but suicidal.

 

I do not celebrate any holidays that are not Jewish.

 

we dont celebrate any that are marked on an ordinary average calendar,,, we just make up our own when we feel like it,, no fuss, no muss, no hassle n no blood family!

 

I'm not, for the past 5 years me n jace have been going to both of our family's holiday stuff like we're married. In the morning thanksgiving christmas and easter we go to my mom's w/my bro and sister for a quaint little celebration (i call it christmas with tiny tim) then off to his big local family get together full of really rich aunts and uncles and cousins for like 7 hours straight. i think i might bail on his family thing this year, I'm sick of buying new clothes every few years cuz im embarrassed to only have one nice set of clothes. they call us potheads and tell him he looks like a terrorist (he grew a beard) one uncle called me trainalbe. they're just joking around and theyre nice people, but it sucks not looking forward to it.

 

Why?

Because my holidays actually have a very strong cultural background, while yours (such as thanksgiving) are polished scenes of the murder of another culture?

I only celebrate it with my parents. The rest of my family is not close at all.

 

i'm excited. i could care less the origins of the holiday. its a time to be with family and friends. and i get to be with them. i get to work with my dad at the HS football games, get to come home for a nice meal. get to hang out with my cousin whose life is finally starting to look up again.

anyways, it will be fine, though i see much of my family pretty frequently.

i am looking forward to going to a cabin in the woods with my girlfriend and friends a few days after more.

Well, I was convinced last thanksgiving that my father would shoot me, after he shoved me and said I was a dead man, and went to his gun room/study, then left into the night.

This was due to my sister and I arguing about how many chives to put in the mashed potatoes.

This thanksgiving, I'll be across the country.

 

jeezus, does this really need to be a thread of personal attacks about something that happened ages ago?? and no one here really knows the true story. who cares? thanxgiving is about spending time with family and friends, not about what happened hundreds of years ago
