i actually hate being referred to as british so long as the dragon is not part of the union jack i consider myself only welsh and nothing more.
It has been a long time since the U.S. of fucking A. did anything for me to be proud of man. But then again I don't approve of any government I've heard of anyway.
Overall, yes I'm quite proud of this place. I'm not talking about politicians or illuminati or masons or any of that sinister shit. I talkin' about yer everyday Brit, with his wry sense of humour, willingness to take the piss out of himself, idiosyncrasies and easy banter. After all,we have Morris Dancing,Cheese Rolling,Mud Racing,Dwarf Throwing,Gurning and Turd Flinging. [that's cow-pats used as frisbees] We have 27 local dialects meaning a chap from one end of this island can't understand a fella from the other end-but it doesn't matter coz we ain't listening anyway,we have beer! We have fog, rain, hail, snow, sleet and occasionally sunshine. We have 92 football clubs in our football league with players who drive forktrucks/mend horses/build houses/dig graves etc,who play in the 'Sunday' league, all taking part in the league cup, when they get to play the 'greats' like Man U/Chelsea/Arsenal so forth. We even have 'Silly Sunday' public matches where every player dresses up as a woman-inflated boobs compulsory-and all revenue goes to various charities. Invariably, everyone's too drunk to find the ball by half-time and all the boobs get burst. We even have pasties...mmmmmmm,pasties. So overall, yes,I'm quite proud to be an ordinary, everyday run-of-the-mill Brit.
The rich elite basically have control over the politicians, because the election system and set to favor the candidates with the most campaign money. I'm gernally proud of America, but will be more proud with the country is finally led by someone with integrity.
it's not to say i don't really like some parts of england, scotland and ireland just find it a little unfair we aren't recognized as a 'country' because a lazy king a few hundred years ago couldn't be bothered to govern wales properly :mickey:
i've never been ta wales tibby.but i've always known wales belongs ta the welsh.its ye're country just like allireland is ours.don't never let nobody tell ya anything different.and scotland is scotland.
As an American, I never really felt comfortable around super patriotic people. I don't hate America...but the concept that one should "die for their country" is completely illogical to me. I would just leave. It's a place on a map that I was born. I don't feel much connection to it, good or bad. I dunno...it's been nice living here, but if I had to live somewhere else, I wouldn't be devastated.
I reserve the word "pride" for my personal accomplishments...things over which I have had some measure of control. My country? Since I had nothing to do with being born here, I prefer the term "lucky". I am also embarrassed about my country and the things that make headlines these days...Rick Perry, after signing a pledge to promote a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage is currently the leader among presidential candidates, Sarah Palin on the republican ticket in the last election...(I could name many more) these people are caricatures and indeed embarrassing, making us look foolish to the rest of the world. So...my vote is no!
my cunttree reeks of pee Sweet land of urinary Track infections.. Land where my kidneys died! Land of homicide! Land where freedom died let the tear gas rain..
You know, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the US, although I don't live there anymore. There are things to be really ashamed of, and things to be proud of-depends on what you're talking about.
Not the biggest fan of U.S.... People seem to like Canada, though. I do too. Anything with a maple syrup-promoting flag is a place for me Too bad Canada is essentially the North Pole
