Or is it a time of year you dread? (I have mixed thoughts on it myself.....since in the past, some of my xmases have been pretty magic whereas others have been at least slightly tinged with sadness).

    What say you?

So far I'm going completely neutral in it this year.

I agree with Noël Coward..."Christmas is at our throats again.”

    It crossed my mind. :D

I am like a big kid all December. I can't wait. I feel the entire Santa thing in the frost. :)

I mean, I guess. I kinda love Thanksgiving through New Years in general. I just love this whole time of year. I'm more excited about Thanksgiving this year. I get to host/cook for the 1st time in my life! :)

I Look Forward To Xmas Because I See Families Happy And Laughing Together........

I Don't Look Forward To Xmas Because I Spend It Alone And Have Done So For Many Years......:pensive:.

For Me It Is A "Day Of Reflection" On The Past Year.......

Certainly Not Depressive.......But Not Filled With "Festivity" Either......:expressionless:.

    Cheers Glen.

    This time of the year.................

    I love Halloween,
    I’m a Veteran, but I’m indifferent about Veteran’s Day
    I love Thanksgiving,
    Hate Christmas,
Love New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day.
As for President's Day i'm indifferent (although we always seem to have a major blizzard around that time)

Unlike hotwater, I don't like any holiday, especially Veteran's Day. I spent 7 years in the military, made well over a hundred parachute drops, volunteered for everything that was available and loved my time in the military. I don't need to be thanked! And the guys I see out with the military stuff on their ball caps and getting all the freebies that are offered every Veteran's Day, are usually the guys that didn't volunteer for crap in the military and even did everything they could think of to keep from getting drafted before they were drafted. And, they were drafted and didn't enlist! So why do we honor them?

About holidays? I don't need society to tell me when I need to celebrate. I celebrated the morning after I finally, at 15, lost my virginity. I celebrated the day I ran away from home the first time, hitch-hiked from the OKC area to Houston, got a job, got a place to stay, and proved I didn't need parents to get by. I celebrated the day I finished Army Jump school at Benning. I celebrated the day I finished Air Traffic Control School at Keesler AFB. I celebrated the day I made Master Parachutist. I celebrated on a lot of days that were special to me. Valentines Day, Memorial Day, The 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas mean nothing to me.

  14. I love Christmas. I love all the decorations, the hustle and bustle, but I especially love the music..
It's a great time to find one of those angel trees, too, (usually at your local shopping mall), and make Christmas special for a child in need. I usually pick out three or four kids wishes for things they would love to have.
There are adults and children hurting right now financially. Help them out if you can..that's the true meaning of this holiday.

Starting Xmas in October is overkill as by the time you have had it up to the high teeth. I know money has to be made but strating it so early takes the shine right out of it all. Bahhhhh Humbug

The period of Yuletide celebrations is; similarly to other seasonal celebrations one to mark with due reverence.
As a child, and for those with families the tinsel, gifts and interaction was nice.
As a young adult, the party-time/s were (and for those who still are of an age) were enjoyable and everything was a Beano :)
Over time, Commercialism has risen, friends (and lovers) have moved on, and the 'Spirit' of the period lost.
One sees the aged and singular either lost in the melancholy muse of what was, and/or find comfort at the bottom of a glass, depression hit home - whilst not 'Bah humbug' for all, the sparkle has certainly dimmed these days

the way i see it, being a functioning adult is enough of an excuse. i don't need my calendar to tell me it's ok to eat and drink.
