If there was a race which had a history of doing good positive thing for it's own people then I might. But no. I don't think seperations by race in such terms are positive anyway. And the I don't feel overwhlemingly responsible for the actions of people I had no way of influincing. I am in no way more responsible for the African slave trade then I am for Taipeng Revolution in which 20 Million chinese were killed by a man who said he was Jesus's brothers armies.
the day we start thinkin, actin and BEIN one race: the human race ..................we write a NEW present and a NEW future for generations to come
I'm sorry, but this is beyond idiotic. Why would you identify yourself with a so called "race"? You are an individual, a race is just another label and just another way of categorizing people. There is nothing to be ashamed of, and nothing to be proud of. It's as simple as that.
I don't want to make it sound like I took what you said personally. I see what you are saying. I'm not ashamed to be an American. I am proud to be one however I've been nothing else so I don't have anything else to compare it to. I've always lived in America and this is where I'll always be. la de da la de da la de da
nah. everyone's an asshole. some people were once upon a time the dominant assholes, sometimes they were the bottom of the heap of assholes. where i am in genetic and temporal proximity is neither my fault nor something i'm embarassed about.
Even though I like my people and consider them beautiful, I'm trying not to be a typical Serb.....I don't wanna be that lazy and non cooperative ......Serbs got a lot stuff to work on and they've had all kinds of problems during the time because of that, but I'm not ashamed of them.....
would i ever insinuate something like that? if id meant to call you stupid dont you think i would out and out say it? i just think its dumb as nuts to be ashamed for something you have no control over at all. its like being ashamed of having freckles, or where you were born
Why should I be ashamed for what other people did? Am I connected to what these people did in any way, shape or form? No, so why should I feel ashamed, because it has NOTHING to do with race but individual mindset and other factors. Race is just a superficiality anyway. Other races have been just as barbaric in their own way, and some much moreso. It doesn't mean they should all be classified as the same. It's like saying all black people are criminals and resort to violence. Please, get a clue.
I see some people mocking this question, but it's not stupid you know, because, well I don't know about your country, but in mine since we were babies we were thought to love our country and to consider ourselves as part of it....So, if you see what people did for their country through centuries, you'll know that they strongly felt as one with their race....And it's in books, you know, identification with group is one tough psychological problem.....
i agree with that. i don't really consider it a problem, though. when you have a home you love and a family you love, you tend to try harder to make better decisions for them both. it only becomes a problem when, inevitably, people decide that the wellbeing of their family doesn't include the well being of their neighbors.
very true. and you have all the right in the world to say so. course it does tend to turn into a looping argument, doesn't it?
Love your home, not your country. What is there to love in a country? How can you be proud to be an American, or anything else for the matter? What has it got to do with you? It's sad that one of your main self-identifications is that of "American". What makes Americans special, or different from any other person on earth? Hell, why would you even be proud of being a part of such a murderous nation in the first place? You were born in America, what does that have to do with pride? Hell, there isn't even a strong cultural concept or aspect to be proud of. Loving a separated piece of land is false. Love it all and be proud of being a human, or alive, or whatever it is... but to be proud of a coincidentally being born on a piece of forcefully isolated land is silly.
