autophobe2e I was primarily referring to the UK. I read up on this, and the people that seemed to be using the term "Missing white woman syndrome" are: Sheri Parks, Gwen Ifill and Michelle Malkin - who happen not to fall into their own criteria. So I'm going to say: 'They would say that wouldn't they'. If you Google: "Missing white woman syndrome" - the couple of e.g's used by Sheri Parks crop up, and that's about it. To me it seems a rather cynical assertion to make based on fairly flimsy evidence, but feels credible and controversial enough for it to be picked up as a news story. It doesn't seem to be a term used by journalists and cultural analysts to describe a kind of racial bias in the media. It seems like an argument a couple of ethnic women made nearly a decade ago, and that has been lost to the ether. I could be wrong. I know there is plenty written about media bias.
That hatred is driven by a fundamental idea that another race or group is either inferior or intolerable through their difference. Inferior is racism, intolerable is just bigotry. Racism falls under the umbrella of bigotry, racism can be a type of bigotry. But people can be racist, without necessarily acting discriminatory. I didn't give them a thumbs up, but I gave you a thumbs down. They could easily just be having a laugh at the idea of someone just coming out and saying they are racist, and then blurting out a racial slur. Nothing about the two words posted, or a thumbs up, gives you any reason to assume negatively about the users' beliefs about other races. The most you can assure is they aren't politically correct.
why based on race sometimes? personal life experience (which of course is different for every person)
That is a social construct. Things like that would be less likely to happen if everyone actually understood that race has no genetic basis. racist people feel justified because they truly believe people of different races are biologically different from them.
i don't buy that at all,as racists are all very much aware that people are not biologically different from them.
True, but cultural differences are real and I have no respect for certain facets of most cultures (including my own).
And the difference between disliking a culture and disliking people can get pretty minute pretty fast.
I'm not racist, but I do appreciate honesty. Too many people dance around on eggshells all the time worrying about what others are going to think. I like it when people say what the fuck they mean. That, and I don't like niggers. Just as I don't like white trash, brown trash, yellow trash, purple trash, and whatever other color of stupid there is.
probably because that's how the human brain works. it automatically groups things based on appearance, in order to be able to store and use more information. what, because he said that being un-PC doesn't make someone a racist? i'm pretty sure he was right about that.
I never did quite understand racism. Most of the people who really bother me a lot are white. I rarely have issues with people of other races and ethnic backgrounds. I even liked Michael Jackson better when he was black.
Me too. I almost always get along with people from other ethnicities but white people can be hit or miss.
