All the sensible people have now bowed out of this discussion, since there are no logical explanations for the large number of anomalies in the official 9/11 story.

No one can explain, for instance. why the undamaged penthouse on building 7 fell down before the main building. The only possible explanation is a controlled demolition, which in turn proves 9/11 was an inside job.

Poor Odon seems to be living in the same fantasy world as his silly picture.

    I'm sensible :)

Many of the anomalies don't actually exist in the 'official story'. That's something I've noticed.

Wasn't this good enough for you?

If it was a controlled demolition - how was it done, and who did it?

This is not what I expected to click on. This topic is gobbling up threads.

I think it's only two. You can totally bypass what you think isn't relevant and comment on what you think is.

    Not that it matters, but...

I believe we are witnessing the next phase of the Roman empire.

I don't think I ever stated an opinion on the original intent of this thread, having gotten side tracked into the hopeless 9/11 argument, so here goes:

Yes, I think if history shows us anything it is that all societies fail sooner or later, and yes, I think we are hitting a pretty fast decline. How long it will take is anybody's guess.
I feel for the people living in the cities, they will have the toughest time of it when it does happen.

No, they never disappeared; or at least the empire didn't. The torch was not so much extinguished as it was passed on to England, then America, and now someone else.

Then there's the question of who might really hold the torch above all our heads.

Just look for the money, that is always where the power is.

Someone also said follow the money. In most cases that’s true. The collapse of America is happening as the oil companies collude backed with governments muscle.
The foreclosure phenomena was hastened by the doubling of oil prices near the end of Bush Jr. last term. Any economy at risk can be brought down or saved by big oils manipulating prices. When oil goes up everything goes up.
A rogue oil state will disrupt big oils ability to engineer price. Hence Iraq’s Saddam Hussein. Once Iraq oil was under control supplies were tightened and prices doubled. Think of the latest rogue oil state that has been on the US radar.
The loss of middle class jobs and movement of capital to developing countries also contributes to the collapse of America.

I just don't think one relatively minor oil producing country will have a massive effect on oil prices. The US will have other levers to manipulate oil prices if they really wanted to. They are 'friends' with the biggest oil producers in the world and produce a considerable amount themselves.

Only today I heard the US will reduce it's dependence on Middle Eastern Oil to 10%

A flea can fart in the Gulf and oil prices will fluctuate accordingly. I would imagine that "one relatively minor oil producing country" 's actions would have a big affect on oil prices.

Maybe. Most charts I have seen there was a gradual increase from approx 2000, a spike in 2008 and a decrease from 2009. Many charts point to OPEC pulling levers one way or another. Other Influences could be: Weather, demand from other countries (e.g Asia)or restoration of production. Yes, the initial start of the 2003 Iraq war would have a baring on oil prices, but a continual influence ? I don't think so. Imho, there are many better arguments for the reasons behind the war - oil seems the easiest one, but I think the wrong one.
